'Dozens died in Syrian-Iranian chemical weapons experiment'
Source: Jerusalem Post

By JPOST.COM STAFF

Proof of cooperation between Iran and Syria in the proliferation and development of weapons of mass destruction was brought to light Monday in a Jane's Magazine report that dozens of Iranian engineers and 15 Syrian officers were killed in a July 23 accident in Syria.

Analysis: There's a reason world is quiet on alleged IAF strike
J'lem downplays Iranian threat; Olmert: I respect Assad
According to the report, cited by Channel 10, the joint Syrian-Iranian team was attempting to mount a chemical warhead on a scud missile when the explosion occurred, spreading lethal chemical agents, including sarin nerve gas and VX gas.

The factory was created specifically for the purposes of altering ballistic missiles to carry chemical payloads, the magazine report claimed.

Reports of the accident were circulated at the time, however, no details were released by the Syrian government, and there were no hints of an Iranian connection.

Strange little story. Sorry I was too lazy to track down the Jane's story, but I think it's subscription only anyway.

4. " Syria began developing chemical weapons in 1973, just before the Yom Kipper War"
Global Security.org cites the country as having one of the most advanced chemical weapons programs in the Middle East.

The war drums have been beating since the world's been turning. Funny how an event from two months ago now leaks out. Makes you wonder about what the IAF hit in Syria if the MSM wants to connect the dots

this article is written from. So we don't know how close to the original Janes story this is.

9. OMG! Imagine what would happen if IRAN used these weapons ...
... like the US military does on a regular basis in Iran's neighborhood. GOD FORBID!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/Columnists/Column/0,5673,1642831,00.html

The US used chemical weapons in Iraq - and then lied about it

Now we know napalm and phosphorus bombs have been dropped on Iraqis, why have the hawks failed to speak out?

the U.S. uses Depleted Uranium on the Iraqi's.
Maybe Israel will be using some of the Depleted Uranium that the U.S. gave to them,
if they haven't already:

48. Are you equating sarin and vx gas
with depleted uranium ammunition? Seriously?

Despite what your link asserts, DU ammo is not illegal or banned.

In 2001, Carla del Ponte, the chief prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, said that NATO's use of depleted uranium in former Yugoslavia could be investigated as a possible war crime.<10> Louise Arbour, del Ponte's predecessor as chief prosecutor, had created a small, internal committee, made up of staff lawyers, to assess the allegation. Their findings, that were accepted and endorsed by del Ponte,<11> concluded that:

There is no specific treaty ban on the use of DU projectiles. There is a developing scientific debate and concern expressed regarding the impact of the use of such projectiles and it is possible that, in future, there will be a consensus view in international legal circles that use of such projectiles violate general principles of the law applicable to use of weapons in armed conflict. No such consensus exists at present.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depleted_uranium

I don't know who you're referring to as evil and hypocritical, but assuming it is Israel, I'd like to point out that everyone uses DU shells and they are not considered anywhere near as hideous as sarin, the use of which is a war crime. A serious fucking war crime too, despite the wild accusations that get tossed around here the US and Israel don't engage in behaviour like this. The Iraqis, unfortuantely, have in the past. If you honestly compare the battlefield ethics of Israel with a nation like Iran or Iraq you will discover that there is a vast chasm between them. Israel does not use mustard gas on anyone, nor do they use groups of children to clear minefields equipped with nothing but their feet, a heavy dose of religious indoctrination and a cheap plastic key to open the gates of heaven.

10. "According to the report, cited by Channel 10"
I think the Jerusalem Post should have cited the report directly. It is natural to wonder how many qualifiers have been stripped off of a story when a secondary source is being cited.

27. A lie repeated often becomes truth
I'm not saying that it is a lie. But - the more we reiterate a complete subject line in a post like this the faster it will spread if it is infact a lie. To confirm this simply make a note to search the subject line of Cali's post in Google in a week or so - you might be surprised at how many links there are which by then convey it as being the truth whether or not it is so.
