Chamber hints at speaker

The Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce is having the same sort of teasing fun that Have You Heard? usually likes to have when it comes to speakers for the Chamber's annual dinner.

The Chamber will announce Donald Rumsfeld's replacement -- he was canceled because too many people objected -- at today's Expoventure.

"A climatic phenomenon of historic proportions will be moving in to Wichita on Dec. 4, 2007," a Chamber news release announced Wednesday. It further called it an "epic change in conditions."

Naturally, the first guess some people made was that Mr. Climate Control himself, Al Gore, would be the new speaker. He may be a bit out of the Chamber's budget, however. Not to mention he sits on the wrong side of the political fence.

"Well, if they brought a Democrat in here, that would be a climatic shift, wouldn't it?" says Joe Rosner of the National Weather Service in Wichita, offering some help on who the speaker might be.
