Giuliani Stops Speech For Call From Wife
Source: CBS News

Former mayor Rudy Giuliani was interrupted during his speech to the NRA by a ringing cell phone – his own, reports CBS News' Ryan Corsaro and Scott Conroy.

“It’s my wife,” he told the audience, and answered the call. “Hello dear, I’m talking to the NRA right now. Would you like to say hello?”

Several members of the audience laughed at the exchange and applauded when Giuliani told her he loved her and promised to call back.

A spokesman for the Giuliani campaign would not say whether the call was planned or not. However, rival candidate Mitt Romney’s press secretary Kevin Madden told CBS News the phone call looked “scripted.”

The Romney campaign provided a YouTube link showing Giuliani doing the same thing at an event in June.

... It’s hard to know for sure, but I’m going to guess that the call was staged. It was a little p.r. stunt, and a cheap one at that, so everyone could see him telling his (third) wife, “I love you,” twice, the day after a Clinton surrogate brought up his scandalous personal life.

Indeed, a different Republican presidential campaign sent Greg Sargent a clip of the last time Giuliani got a “surprise” call from his current wife.

You’ll notice, of course, that he professed his love for his wife once the applause had died down and everyone could hear it.

One hates to be cynical, but given the circumstances, and Giuliani’s shamelessness, it seems like a stunt, doesn’t it?

11. I know Rudi's THIRD wife, Judi!
and not only is he on a very SHORT leash, it's a choke chain as well.

The lesson I learned early was, never come between Judi! and her man. (which ever man happens to be in her life at the time.)

I bet it's killing her not being able to be w/Rudi 24/7. And that brings a glorious smile to my face.

15. If only he treated his first 2 wives as well...
And this tells me that he's not capable of focusing on his work. His wife will be too influential. He was doing his mistress when he was running NY.

Giuliani gets the second amendment completely wrong in NRA speech
Vanity ^ | ellery
Posted on 09/21/2007 10:12:36 PM PDT by ellery

Right before Giuliani took his "impromptu" call during the NRA speech, he was discussing the second amendment. However, when discussing the second amendment's language, he mistakenly began to paraphrase the fourth amendment instead! Then he answered the phone and changed the subject. Here's the transcript, followed by the video:

"After all the second amendment is a freedom every bit as important as the other freedoms in the first ten amendments. Just think of the language of it -- 'the people shall be secure' --let's see, this is my wife calling..."

(talks to and about his wife)

(then he resumes with a subject change) "...but the parking decision offers an excellent example..."
