Pasadena church wants apology from IRS
Source: LA Times

The Internal Revenue Service has told a prominent Pasadena church that it has ended its lengthy investigation into a 2004 antiwar sermon, church leaders said Sunday.

But the agency wrote in its letter to All Saints Episcopal Church that officials still considered the sermon to have been illegal, prompting the church to seek clarification, a corrected record and an apology from the IRS, the church's rector told standing-room-only crowds of parishioners at Sunday's services.

The church also has asked the Treasury Department, which oversees the IRS, to investigate allegations that officials from the Justice Department had become involved in the matter, raising concerns that the investigation was politically motivated.
.....
"In view of the fact that recent congressional inquiries have revealed extensive politicization of , my client is very concerned that the close coordination undertaken by the IRS allowed partisan political concerns to direct the course of the All Saints examination," attorney Marcus S. 1. Of course it was politically motivated
how many of that batshit insane James Dobsons churches have even been investigated for this. The only church they went after is probably the only church in the country that criticized Dear Leader in the run up to 2004.

This fucking "Justice Department" needs to be purged as soon as possible. They are the most partisan bunch of pseudo legal "minds" I've ever encountered.

5. Don't they go after Quakers for the same reason?
In fact, are the Quakers yet working on a lawsuit over the NSA wiretapping, invasion of privacy?

6. Where does it say in the Constitution that church's are tax exempt?
I think there was an understanding that as long as Church's stay out of politics they would remain tax exempt....Preaching morality though should not be considered politics. Republicans have legislated morality so much though they have become intertwined....

4. Someone needs to tell those asswits that it is "innocent until proven guilty."
If they don't think they can prove guilt, they need to keep their pieholes shut about possible illegalities.
