Homeland Security deputy secretary resigns
Source: AP

WASHINGTON — The Homeland Security Department's second-in-command resigned today, citing personal financial reasons.

Jackson's resignation is effective Oct. 26.

9. Correction. He's been greasing the wheels for private corps for all these years.
Now it's time to get paid off with a nice fat paycheck from the folks he's really been working for.

I keep wondering how it plays with the rest of America.

Personally, I would have thought it would be insulting to most Americans.

15. Has he been offered a fat position on some corporate board or other?

17. Something I just thought of, Thompson requested an investigation into DHS spending and
They've failed their last three (I think) audits.

I may have looked at this from the wrong angle. Perhaps his financial reasons aren't for him to make more money, but rather the money that's missing.

18. *sniff* Do I smell burning martyr?
If all these Republicans are making such enormous, painful, financial sacrifices just to "serve their country", then they could do us all a great big favor and let the Democrats run things for awhile. Somehow, Democrats are able to find competent people who don't whine about the supposedly substandard pay.
