Giuliani party seeks $9.11 per person
Source: AP via yahoo.

By LIBBY QUAID, Associated Press Writer1 hour, 42 minutes ago
A spokeswoman for Rudy Giuliani says it is unfortunate that a supporter throwing a party that aims to raise $9.11 per person for the Republican's presidential campaign is asking for that amount.

Abraham Sofaer is having a fundraiser at his Palo Alto, Calif., home on Wednesday, when Giuliani backers across the country are participating in the campaign's national house party night.

But Sofaer said he had nothing to do with the "$9.11 for Rudy" theme.

"There are some young people who came up with it," Sofaer said when reached by telephone Monday evening. He referred other questions to Giuliani's campaign.

"I'm just providing support for him. He's an old friend of mine," Sofaer said of Giuliani.

Bernard Kerik once enjoyed a national reputation as a brash, self-made law enforcer. He was at Mayor Rudy's side during the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. By late 2004, junior wanted him for homeland security chief. That was before junior realized his wallet was missing.

38. Giuliani Party Seeks $9.11 Per Person
Source: The Guardian

WASHINGTON (AP) - The campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Chris Dodd said Tuesday a fundraising party for Republican Rudy Giuliani seeking $9.11 each from guests exploits the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks for political purposes.

The Dodd campaign called on Giuliani to refuse the money raised at the event, saying the theme ``is absolutely unconscionable, shameless and sickening.'' A Giuliani spokeswoman said the $9.11 idea was selected without the campaign's knowledge.

That this was suggested by some kids as an idea w/i the Rudy campaign. If that is true, well, the kids may mean well, but not realize it's not really appropriate. The Adults in the campaign should have nipped this in the bud thou.

42. $9.11 fundraiser for Giuliani draws attack
Source: UPI

NEW YORK, 25 (UPI) -- Supporters of Rudy Giuliani, looking to boost the GOP U.S. presidential hopeful's bid with a $9.11-a-person fundraiser, instead drew heat to his campaign.

Harold Schaitberger, president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, said tying the donation amount to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks "is nothing short of disrespectful to the legacy of the thousands of civilians and 343 brave firefighters who died at Ground Zero," WABC-TV in New York reported.

Two Democratic contenders, Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut and Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico, also weighed in.

"Exploiting the Sept. 11 attacks for fundraising purposes is absolutely unconscionable, shameless and sickening," Dodd said in a statement on his campaign Website, adding he thinks the former New York mayor should reject or return any money raised.

45. His entire CAMPAIGN is about exploiting 9/11
And all he did was walk around after the event. For this, he's supposed to be "America's Mayor"? He only did the minimum of what any city's mayors would do in those circumstances.

Many forget...the only reason he "looked good" at the time was in contrast to the Decider.

Next thing he'll do is have three firefighters raise a flag at each campaign stop, to recreate the classic 9/11 photo.

Or maybe he'll have a rally with the exact same number of Repuke attendees, as there were victims of 9/11.
