1. They have been trying to cover it up for years, why should we trust them for oversight?

5. Oh no! I bet Blackwater is shakin' in their boots, NOT!
Scenario as I see it:

Pentagon team to Blackwater: We are reviewing the oversight of you guys

Blackwater to Pentagon team: The oversight is just fine as it is

Pentagon team to Blackwater: Yep, we agree

Pentagon team report: Nothing to see here, move along

10. DoD is actually pretty pissed about Blackwater.
They are saying this latest incident is potentially worse than Abu Ghraib.

11. Unfortunately, imo, the DOD is no longer independent from
the political wants of the bush admin, imo, which means this effort is merely a whitewash in hopes the whole thing will go away and, sadly, it will.

9. Exactly! Why would anyone believe the same guy requesting another $190 billion dollars to
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 02:01 PM by GreenTea
fund corporations like Blackwater, whom this administration adores... A privatized army of killers with no oversight!

War for profit!

As these republican multi-national corporations rake in billions of dollars every time congress approves more war spending....another 190 billion dollars more they want.... they lie and say it's for the troops.... Bullshit, most of it goes to these same republican donating corporations like BLACKWATER, LOCKHEED-MARTIN, ALLIANT TECHSYSTEMS, HALLIBURTON, KELLOGG BROWN & ROOT, BWX TECHNOLOGIES, GENERAL ELECTRIC, BECHTEL, NORTHROP GRUMMAN, RAYTHEON, THE BOEING COMPANY, GENERAL DYNAMICS, BAE SYSTEMS INC.

While oil corporations like EXXON & the rest, are stealing billions in unmetered Iraq oil & claiming the rights to future exploitation...trillions of dollars more for them, as they also shamelessly gouge us every day at the pump for even more profits...

Of course BushCo never wants the never ending imperialistic wars for profit to end.

17. They should have done that back in January.
We spend $3 billion a week over there and everybody knows that there's rampant waste and corruption. But I guess too many Bush Dog Democrats don't want to be painted as far left extremists by advocating such radical hippy-dippy ideas like responsibility, oversight, auditing, and accountability.

14. Would be a good move if the (sort of) Iraqi government challenged Bremer's immunity
from local law for these guys. It'd help put the lie to the spreading democracy meme the Administration has settled on and might help highlight the complete lack of legal oversight of the contracted forces in Iraq.

16. The Iraqi Parliament should simply pass a bill negating the
exemption re the mercenaries. It can be done if they had the will and were actually sovereign and not a puppet government.
