Vick Tests Positive for Marijuana
Source: Yahoo News

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A federal judge placed tighter restrictions on Michael Vick on Wednesday after the Atlanta Falcons quarterback tested positive for marijuana.

Because of the result, U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson placed special conditions on Vick's release, including restricting him to his home between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. with electronic monitoring and ordering him to submit to random drug testing......

Vick has admitted helping kill six to eight dogs, among other things. His three co-defendants also have pleaded guilty. One of them, Quanis Phillips, failed a drug test and was ordered jailed after his plea.

37. No, but pot shouldn't be either
Marijuana certainly shouldn't be considered a facet in this case.

If he was drunk while killing the dogs, that certainly matters because alcohol tends to bring out violent tendencies.

Pot brings out laughter and Cheetos.

63. One is not predicated on the other...
One crime (animal abuse) is in no way predicated on another crime (homicide).

Having said that, how do we know that he would serve less time if he killed his wife? Wouldn't that be up to the jury and the judge, as are each and every crime committed and brought to trial?

You seem to be making some rather imaginative assumptions.

26. Last time I checked the SPCA tried to do this as humanely as possible
whereas from what I read Vick was the exact opposite. Plus the SCPA was not engaged in a dog-fighting ring with the dogs in their care.

27. Secondly - don't even think that McNabb/Rush have anything closely remote to the Vick story
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 02:58 PM by LynneSin
McNabb was wrongly judged by an asshole Rush Limbaugh who ultimately lost his job as an ESPN commentator after pretty much the WHOLE COUNTRY slammed Rush for his racist comment. A few weeks later it turned out that Rush had a major jones for Oxycontin.

McNabb was a victim. In the Michael Vicks situation it was the DOGS that were the victims.

Two very VERY different scenarios

42. Wow
I seriously hope you didn't just compare this rich, pampered asshole with those kids down in LA. Or Donovan McNabb for that matter, whose only crime was being a black quarterback in the NFL.

Michael Vick is a typical entitlement whore pro athlete who thought he could do whatever the hell he wanted because he played football. I have to question the severity of the reaction toward it and the racial aspect of it (at the end of the day, as terrible as what he did was, there are far worse animal abuse cases that never make the news). But don't sit there and pretend that Michael Vick is some poor, put-upon brother who doesn't deserve every bit of scorn he's getting.

Planet angstlessk must be really fucked up.

45. wow. you are truly ignorant.
are you seriously calling this a racially motivated conviction? i think you need to go back and check the facts. this isn't just about vick killing animals (which in and of itself is disgusting). he was convicted for gambling and several other counts as well.

what he did is reprehensible. he repeatedly lied about his involvement and then when the truth came out, he pleaded ignorance of the fact that killing dogs was bad.

and, as for the assertion that he would have been convicted to less time for killing his wife, that's insane. the guy is going to federal prison for a year. A YEAR! you think that's unfair? if anything, it's too light a sentence. if it were you or me, we'd be going away for a long time. his celebrity saved him from being treated like the criminal he is.

cry me a river.
