Iran sanctions decision delayed
Source: BBC

The world's major powers will delay until November a decision on whether to impose tougher sanctions on Iran over its controversial nuclear programme.

The five permanent UN Security Council members and Germany said they would wait until they saw reports from the UN and EU before drafting a resolution.

Tehran denies Western accusations that it is trying to build a nuclear weapon.

On Tuesday, Iran's president said the sanctions were "illegal" in a speech at the UN General Assembly in New York.

2. Why do I have a feeling he's throwing a tantrum and throwing things
at the wall. Of course, he's also liable to declare that "we can no longer wait for the UN" and commence to bombing. Not like he hasn't done it before.

8. Russia put the brakes on Bush
Russia's foreign minister said additional sanctions were not warranted until the U.N. nuclear agency finished its work.

Without Russia's support, Bush's plans for harsher sanctions were going to go no where.
