Kucinich, unhappy with coverage, shuts out Plain Dealer
Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer

Heretofore a champion of a free press, congressman (and former Plain Dealer copy boy) Dennis Kucinich has cut off nearly all communication to Plain Dealer political reporters.

Kucinich has not returned calls for several weeks to the newspaper's Washington bureau, which covers his actions in Congress and his presidential campaign. As noted in Monday's newspaper, he uttered a string of non sequiturs -- albeit pleasant ones -- when a Plain Dealer reporter attempted to interview him outside the House of Representatives chamber.

His presidential campaign staff for weeks has not returned Plain Dealer calls and e-mail.

Natalie Laber, Kucinich's publicly paid spokeswoman in Congress, also has not returned phone calls and e-mail during this timeframe. That includes multiple inquries from reporters asking about Kucinich's votes in the House, his positions on congressional issues and matters unrelated to his presidential campaign.

1. The Plain Dealer has been hard on Kucinich for years
While I don't agree with his decision to ignore such a large paper in his district, I can't say I blame the guy.

2. Yea, they have never liked DK...
In fact, when they endorse him against dubious candidates at best, it's always in a half assed way...

3. Something else to consider...
The Plain Dealer is a known conservative mouthpiece that harrassed Dennis to no end while he was mayor of Cleveland.

Wasn't this the paper that in 2004 the editorial board voted 5-2 to endorse Kerry, but one of the higher-ups stepped in and blocked the endorsement?

The more I think about this, the more I like this move by Dennis.

7. If the owner blocked the press, the so called Plain Dealer should be exposed...
That is the problem with the MSM, they are bought and paid
for. No longer even a facade of objectivity. No freedom of
the press, that is why I had to dump are local newspaper. It
is only good for the bottom of the bird cage, sounds like the
Plain Dealer.

5. How dare Dennis stop playing a losing game!
Who does he think he is - somebody who has a choice? The newspapers will really have to go after him now.

(half-:sarcasm:)

9. Indeed, that is the real tragedy. America is a country dominated by losers who refuse to listen to
DK's voice of sanity in this swamp of dementia called Amerika.

6. This guy is America's best hope....
I'm not sure what's going on. I don't know the "Clev. Plain Dealer" stuff at all, but I do know Dennis has got the best plan for Americans that want us out of Iraq NOW and want corporate America to get OUT of politics.

Short of that...we get Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Biden and Dodd. I'm not sure where to place Richardson and Gravel. I just don't want to see us give up any more seats in Congress to fill a seat in the WH that can be taken by ANYONE BUT A REPUG!

10. Waaaaaa!
Holy crap! They aren't sending me press releases via email anymore! I might have to (GASP!) actually leave the office and do some reporting, instead of adding commas and "said Kucinich" to the text I cut-and-paste!!!

O, the humanity! :D

Whiny baby. It's a "reporter's" blog, BTW.

11. Dennis is our best hope. Too bad he won't win because
there is no good media coverage of him. I think he's the only one that could actually save us.

12. Nonsense. If by some miracle he was elected
he'd be crushed by the forces in DC.
