Hundreds gather in Lancaster to protest Bush policies

LANCASTER -- President Bush's supporters weren't the only ones prepared for his visit Wednesday to Lancaster County.

About 400 protesters gathered Tuesday night in downtown Lancaster. The shouting, banner-waving protest was a marked contrast to the silent candlelight vigils that have been more typical of Lancaster's anti-war protests.

In addition to opposing the war in Iraq, the protesters took issue with the president's positions on other issues, such as children's health insurance.

1. Interesting Freudian slip Bush made.

First of all, good for the protesters.

Secondly, Bush was there in PA to make an address and take questions. I'm fairly certain person who gave the intro was a big GOP donor.

During his speech to the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, Bush was giving his usual spiel about his tax policies and how they affect Subchapter S corporations. This time, however, he slipped and said "SCHIP corporations." He did not catch the error. I'll be interested to see if the White House transcript cleans it up or lets it stand.
