1. What's with lead?
What's with all this lead in products? I seem to recall hearing about lead helping oil based paints spread easier but that is all in a fog of memory.

Anyone know what's with the lead?

3. Hell, itsn't it hazardous waste? They probably put it in the paint
as a nifty, profitable way of "disposing" of it.

6. I guess that would just be an added bonus?
Is it even considered a hazardous waste in China? I honestly don't know.

to achieve color in paints- most especially the color red.

Many ceramics are dangerous because of the lead in the glaze, and if used with very acidic foods (such as tomato sauce) the lead can leach out into the food.

If you are old enough, you may remember canned foods which had soldered seams, well, the solder often contained lead.

Lead was a widely used product before the damaging effects were fully understood-

(my dad was a phd-scientist, and i was an aspiring potter)

edit- sauce, not sause :silly:

5. Thanks for the answers
Great answers. Reminds me of the problem I have with free market folks...no control on dangerous substances or actions.
