Hefty Vacations Limit Iraqi Soldiers' Training Time

If there's one word American soldiers are familiar with when it comes to their Iraqi counterparts, it's "ijaza" — which means vacation.

Iraqi soldiers get one week off for every two they work, while Americans get two weeks off a year.

A U.S. general admits that it's difficult to persuade Iraqi officers to postpone Iraqi army vacation so their troops can take part in U.S. military operations.

WTF! This is ridiculous! Did they take lessons from the two workday a week Republican congress? Meanwhile our troops get extended tours and being sent back for the 3rd, 4th, 5th tour! And I've been watching the Ken Burns doc on WWII where we trained troops in 13 weeks, sent them off to fight, and beat the Nazis and the Japanese(with our allies) in a little over 3 1/2 years. Well, time for another email to my Congress critters.

2. More eveidence that this occupation is about filling oil company
and other "contractor's" coffers, rather than anything to do with propping up some "struggling democracy".
