His state is very serious and prognosis is very cautious,” said Andrzej Krajewski, head of the hospital in Gryfice, northern Poland where the ambassador was transported on Friday night. “The patient is unable to breathe and was put on respirator. He is suffering from burns of upper airways and some 20 percent of his body’s surface is burnt,” doctor Krajewski informed.

Gen. Pietrzyk was transported form the American hospital in Ramstein, western Germany, in a US army’s plane, to the airport near Szczecin, western Poland, and then taken to hospital in Gryfice in an ambulance helicopter.

The attack took place on Wednesday, around 8 am, Polish time, in the Baghdad district of Karrada, at a crossroads of a small street leading to the ambassador’s residence. There are divergent versions as to how exactly the convoy of three Polish cars got attacked.

. . .

In the blast four members of the Polish government protection service got wounded. One of them – Bartosz Orzechowski – died as a result of the suffered injuries. The three others were released from the hospital.

2. That is what I remember also but it appears
that is the story we here in the US of A are being fed. Both the AFP and the International Herald Trib have been reporting stories of a more serious situation for the Polish Ambassador. This story from Poland press is the only one with actual details of injuries.
