FCC Won't Probe Disclosure Of Phone Records

WASHINGTON - The head of the Federal Communications Commission declined to investigate reports that phone companies turned over customer records to the National Security Agency, citing national security concerns, according to documents released Friday.

FCC Chairman Kevin Martin turned down a congressional request for an investigation as a top intelligence official concluded it would "pose an unnecessary risk of damage to the national security," according to a letter National Intelligence Director Michael McConnell sent to Martin on Tuesday.

Kevin Martin's whole career has been about carrying the water for the telecom incumbents in general and AT&T in particular. He is more a telecom lobbiest than an FCC chairman. He smells big bux when his tenure is over. Just watch and see what incumbent he either goes to work for or gets big contracts out of.

We NEED to make SURE they DO NOT PASS any bills that disallow prosecution of these companies (criminal and/or civil) in cases in the future or especially retroactively. They are desperately trying to to get out from under what they did during this administration and especially information about AT@T and the story on Front line's "Spying on the Home front"

They cannot and will not get away with this no matter what law they think they pass. They already proved laws mean nothing and can be interpreted by whomever is in power. They will not be in power forever so they better keep up there liability insurance premiums.
