Republicans claim victory with ruling on Corzine-Katz e-mails

They say governor must release more

BY JOSH MARGOLIN

Republican leaders said they won a small victory yesterday after attorneys for Gov. Jon Corzine agreed to explain in detail how they searched computer systems for e-mails between the governor and his ex-girlfriend, state-worker union leader Carla Katz.

At issue was whether the Corzine administration complied with an order to turn over all the e-mails to state Superior Court Judge Paul Innes so he could determine which -- if any -- should be made public. Republicans, as part of their lawsuit against the Democratic governor, argued Corzine's office had violated Innes' order because they did not fully explain how they searched for the e-mails.

"They lost today," state Republican Chairman Tom Wilson said after the half-hour hearing in Superior Court in Trenton. Wilson and his attorney, Mark Sheridan, said the ruling was key because they expect additional e-mails to be turned over once the details of the search are elaborated for the court.

State Law Divison Director Robert Gilson, one of the attorneys representing the governor, downplayed yesterday's development, saying the administration simply has to "explain what has been done." Gilson, however, added any additional e-mails found would be turned over.

So Corzine can just ignore and not even bother to say no.

Seems to me if it is good for the goose it is good for the gandar..Why should the Governor have to turn over e-mails when the "Unitary Executive" does not?

4. Early in the 3rd Reich, the Nazis packed the German judiciary
with devout partisans, so that quite literally the laws were enforced only against non-Nazis, while the Nazis themselves were able to break any and all laws, up to and including murder, with impunity. The "good Germans" didn't do anything about it, even though most knew what was happening. That's where we are now in this country.
