Knoxville News SentineThe union representing striking workers at Maremont Exhaust Products in Loudon today is criticizing a National Labor Relations Board decision Tuesday to decertify Machinists Union Local Lodge 2545, bringing an end to the lengthy strike.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers called the NLRB decision “outrageous.”
“This is the worst kind of union-busting. A Texas millionaire bought a good company with a great reputation and has forced out the very workers who made that reputation. This is all about cheap labor and leaving workers without a voice,” union spokesman Bob Wood said in a statement.
Current and striking workers voted Sept. 28 to dissolve the union, a move that resulted in NLRB reviewed and approval.
