Mukasey confirmation hearings next week

CAPITOL HILL - The Senate Judiciary Committee has announced confirmation hearings for President Bush's attorney general nominee will begin next week.

The October 17th start date comes exactly a month after Michael Mukasey was named to replace Alberto Gonzales.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy says hearings will focus on what he calls the Justice Department's "plummeting morale" under Gonzales' leadership.

1. No it doesn't. In simple terms, it means that
Leahy recognizes that bushco would like nothing better than to stonewall and keep his criminal crony, Keisler, in as Acting AG, for as long as possible.

Keisler is substantially worse than Gonzo, and at least Glenn Greenwald thinks that Mukasey would be an improvement.

This is a damn good thing.
