Burma man dies under torture
Source: The Australian

A member of detained democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi's party has died after torture and interrogation, a rights group said, as possible talks between her and the Burma junta failed to develop.

Win Shwe, 42, a member of the opposition National League for Democracy, was arrested on September 26 near Mandalay, the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners said in a statement.

He was held along with four other people for joining anti-government protests led by Buddhist monks in Mandalay.

"He died as a result of torture during interrogation. However, his body was not sent to his family and the interrogators indicated that they had cremated it instead," the Thailand-based watchdog said.

1. Another interesting tidbit from the article
This could lead to possible repercussions for a lot of nations, including Israel:

Human Rights Watch singled out India for selling Burma maritime surveillance aircraft, tanks and artillery.

China had supplied Burma with advanced helicopter gunships, fighter planes, naval vessels, tanks and small arms including mortars, landmines, and assault rifles, the group said. Russia signed a deal to supply Burma with MiG-29 fighter planes in 2002, it added.

The statement said Burma had received technical assistance from South Korean company Daewoo, rocket systems from North Korea, and cited reports of Israel selling tanks to the regime.

4. I wonder what kind of torture he suffered?
Waterboarding?
Head-slaps?
Stress positions?
Dog attacks?
Freezing temperatures?

It couldn't have been one of those, because Bush says that's not torture.
