8. actually the rate is down some
September was "only" 75; October running less than that. So it might take 'til Christmas to hit 4000. FWIW, we hit 3000 last Christmas

Over the course of the 1675 days of the war, the rate is 2.3/day. Over the past year it is 3.1/day

Sept/Oct look like a little over 2/day

So the surge worked. :sarcasm: US fatalities spiked; the Iraqis proceeded with their ethnic cleansing and have now slowed down the killing, and bush looks like a genius. By doing something while the natural course of events unfolded, he can say he brought about the natural course of events. I just wish he had opted for something other than killing an extra American/day for a year. Like maybe if he had said I'm gonna hold my breath until they stop killing each other...

4. Imagine if your son/daughter or husband/wife were one of these 12:

A horse-drawn caisson carries the casket for a group burial
at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington October 12, 2007,
for 12 U.S. soldiers killed when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter
crashed in Iraq on January 20, 2007. The single casket holds the
    remains of all 12 soldiers.

:patriot:

5. Don't impeach for a war based on lies...

A boy looks up as the American flag is presented
to a family member during the group burial at Arlington National
Cemetery October 12, 2007, for 12 U.S. soldiers killed when
their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed in Iraq on January 20, 2007.

9. I recently added links to the ANC website
to my website. They do a nice job of posting some biographical info, comments, photos. There are 435 from Iraq/Afghanistan. I try to put links to such sites whenever I can, since a lot of the newspaper links get archived after a time.

I noticed those twelve all on the same day, all from that copter crash. It was chilling to add link after link all the same day. I thought maybe the families got together and decided to have a joint service. I didn't know it was one casket. That explains it, of course. Damn. It's really almost like the tomb of the unknown. I guess they probably found some dna from all 12 - or maybe just told the families they had. Damn

One of the many, many ugly aspects of this is that not only does your husband/son/wife/daughter/mother/father/brother/sister get killed, but in most cases it is what they euphemistically call "closed casket recommended." I'm not big on "viewings" anyway, but that has to be hard for those who are.
