Iraq bombs kill 11 in Baghdad, northern city-police

(Changes toll, adds Anbar tribal leader shot)

BAGHDAD, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Vehicle bombs targeting
an Iraqi army patrol in Baghdad and a police station in
northern Iraq on Tuesday killed at least 11 people and
wounded 105, police said.

Three soldiers and three civilians died when a car bomb
parked in central Baghdad exploded near an Iraqi army
patrol. Five soldiers and 20 civilians were wounded.

A truck bomb in the northern city of Mosul destroyed a
police station, killing four policemen, a woman and
wounding 80 people, police said.

A member of the "Awakening Council" of tribal leaders
that turned against al Qaeda in the western Anbar
province was also killed on Tuesday.

1. Another day, more chaos and carnage. Gotta admit that I can't
see how the 'surge' has made anything any better. But they keep telling us that. They wouldn't be lying, would they???

2. Yes, but we can count on our strack representatives hyper-focusing on "a genocide" which
occurred nearly a century ago, rather than take ASSERTIVE STEPS to end this horrific occupation of a sovereign nation at the brink of civil war. :shrug:

Those boys and girls in Congress have earned that 11% approval rating, aye?
