Associated PressEVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - The National Labor Relations Board has ruled that dealers and floor supervisors at Casino Aztar in Evansville are not considered management under federal law and have a right to unionize for collective bargaining.
The workers petitioned the NLRB in August, seeking the right to join the United Auto Workers, a union that represents members in a variety of trades. The 26-page ruling by the board's Region 25 office in Indianapolis was signed October 4th and will allow 183 workers to vote in a union-representation election.
A UAW officer calls it a "great ruling for workers."
Aztar is owned by Columbia Sussex Corporation of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.
