Bush Twins Unhappy About Limelight
If the guy had any family values he resign today for the sake of those poor girls!

President Bush's twin daughters have shown little interest in their family's tradition of public service and are unhappy about the limelight they find themselves in, a new book says.

Jenna and Barbara Bush "have not campaigned or reined in their adolescent rebellions," Washington Post reporter Ann Gerhart says in the book published this week, "The Perfect Wife: The Life and Choices of Laura Bush."

"They have not appeared engaged in any of the pressing issues their generation will inherit, nor shown empathy for the struggles facing their mother and their father," Gerhart says. "They don't show their faces at the White House often."

The Bush daughters turned 22 in November. Barbara Bush attends Yale University, while Jenna Bush is a student at the University of Texas at Austin.

1. Is this a parody piece?
"President Bush's twin daughters have shown little interest in their family's tradition of public service."

A, yes! Remember great gramps, who helped out those poor Nazis? Or Grampa, who spied on people? Or Mom, who told loud readers to shush?

"They don't show their faces at the White House often."

Hell, I avoid my family like the plaque, and they didn't fuck up the whole world! Nice goin' girls. There's hope for you yet!

41. Would love to meet these girls
Edited on Thu Jan-08-04 06:33 PM by PaDUer
at a party somewhere..you bet they'd tell the truth about the parents and possibly more with a few drinks! I heard they're the life of the party?
Also, heard that one of the girls attended a protest against the daddy, must've been Jenna?--am going by the above post..

2. Of course they're unhappy......
That's why they attempt to console themselves by being drunken sluts.

BTW, since they're 22, I think they should be held responsible for all their drug-binging activities, their parents' politics be damned.

And Jeb Bush's crackhead daughter, Noelle, should rot in the jail cell that'll be next to Rush's future home.

I'm sorry to sound so hateful, but it's the feeling that the mere mention of the Bush family name provokes in me.

22. But, perhaps the girls have been led astray by the
bad example of Uncle Neil Bush, who apparently enjoys cavorting with underage hookers who just "magically" show up in his hotel room?

Or maybe it was the bas example of Uncle Marvin Bush -- and his shady dealing with the security company that oversaw the World Trade Center at the time of the 9/11 screw up?

So many bad influences. Tough to be a "good girl" with so many bad examples. Please show some konservative kompassion.

36. You should be sorry to be so hateful
There is no reason to be nasty to these girls or call them "drunken sluts." Babs is a very nice girl and drinks no more then the average Yale student, and she is far from slutty.

I have only met Jenna once but she seemed like a very nice girl for the few seconds I talked to her, in fact she was the sober driver that night and she was asking me if she could park in my friends driveway.

Hate the BFEE as much as you want, but leave the kids alone, they are just normal, nice, and rather liberal girls.

What a crap way to grow up. I don't think I would like being a daughter of a politician...especially President. Atleast my parents are liberals though. I'm lucky I wasn't raised in a freeper household.

The way I see it, as long as the Bush twins stay out of Playboy, they'll be okay.

13. Yes. It was Christmas night 2000.
Jenna had "an emergency appendectomy."
Her "family values" father went to Florida to hang with Poppy and Jebby.
When the press asked him about Jenna, he said when she got out of the hospital she could join the rest of the family in Florida or she could go home and clean her room. -- Such a devoted father --NOT!

I read "Peyton Place." I know what the euphemism "appendectomy" meant in that book. I wonder if they were using the euphemism or if she really did have appendicitis.

14. That was Christmas 2000
Jenna was hospitalized in Austin after emergency surgery on Christmas day; meanwhile the Shrubs partied in Florida.

"My daughter's great," {Bush} told reporters, joking that if she cannot join the rest of the family in Florida, "she can clean out her room."

me anymore than I appreciated them. I parted company at a very early age. Get this! My father can't believe all the fuss over Martin Luther King and why a holiday was given in his honor. 12. I read it in the Washington Post today -- my reaction...
It sounded like they haven't had any discipline or guidance since they were 12 years old, but they have had plenty of excuses made for their behavior. The piece should have been called the "Bush Brats".

Laura's Girls
Mrs. Bush Sought Privacy for Her Twins. They Had Their Own Idea About What to Do With It.
By Ann Gerhart
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, January 7, 2004; Page C01

Adapted from "The Perfect Wife: The Life and Choices of Laura Bush," by Ann Gerhart, published this week by Simon & Schuster

<snip>

They are girls born rich, blessed with intelligence, good looks, trust funds, loving parents, boundless opportunities, freedom from many of life's daily vexing challenges. Yet they persist in seeing themselves as victims of daddy's job. In this attitude, they have been subtly encouraged by their mother. Laura Bush would never permit herself to feel victimized by her husband's decisions. She regards herself as a full partner who embraced his ambitions because she wanted for him what he wanted for himself. His happiness has been as important to her as her own, or greater. No, any victimization she might have felt has all been transferred onto her girls. Once George sought political office when his girls were 12, Laura's guiding principle in mothering became "they didn't really ask for this," as if the life that followed for Jenna and Barbara was some disastrous, bumpy detour from the normal smooth path toward adulthood.

"They just want to do like every other teenager does," the first lady has insisted often. This declaration is dead opposite from most parents' insistence, which is, of course, "I don't care what the 'other' kids do. You are not other kids."

17. The truth is...
...after hearing that appendix story, I kind of feel bad for them. Yes they are adults but many of the problems they seem to have come from upbringing I'm sure. I am starting to think that they wanted a father that just wasn't there for them. Yes I know that I am being a "compassionate moderate-liberal".

I wish that they would get it together, because I think that they were spoiled rotton and have had way too much at their fingertips. But I think that it is too much of the wrong things and not enough of the right ones.

20. No doubt. Reason ONE why Jackie married John Kennedy.
Her father slept around A LOT; left her mother and Jackie was always fond of her father. So when John came around, it was a match. Not shocking that he too slept around on her. But hell if you look at all the Kennedy kids, they too had that problem and it all stems from the fact they married cheating husbands.

I mean Maria Shriver DID marry Ahnuld for a reason. I doubt it was because he was so 'charming'.

47. Oh come on--they are twenty two and at that age I began my family
Edited on Thu Jan-08-04 07:26 PM by Marianne
they are grown up and I think that the next thing in store for them is to marry well. That is after all , all they are capable of. They are rather stupid and prone to being brainwashed. They, both of them , will marry soon in to some wealthy family. He will have to cater to their spoiled ways and if he does not, he will be divorced. They think that is the way of their life. It is really too bad that so much money has been spent on their "education". But after all, that is also a part of their "elitism" That they will make no use of it is academic and it is a way to lord it over others who struggle.

These two banal women are doomed, imo, to a life of misery. Thye have not been properly taught. They will rely upon superficial, elite social events for their "personna" and after they begin to age after perhaps providing the "obligatory" children, they will desperately wear gowns tnat emphasize their maturing belly bloat because they think it will make them look as though they were twenty again-after all they were a "Bush" LOL

-as their dullard of an inane mother tried to do. They, the entire family is shallow, so very shallow, and they are shallow because they lack intelligence to be honest.

They can never go any deeper than their obsession with their clothes, their shopping, their vacations and their "looks" and their "image" as far off base as it is--in their mind, they are just "wonderful" because no one else around them dares to question them . Tjherefore they labor under the false impression that they are, indeed, unassailable in their triteness. And trite they are , indeed.
