Pulitzer Prize finalist resigns from USA Today
Pulitzer Prize finalist resigns from USA Today

Wednesday, January 7, 2004

(01-07) 21:50 PST WASHINGTON (AP) --

Pulitzer Prize finalist Jack Kelley resigned from USA Today following a company investigation into his stories, the newspaper's editor, Karen Jurgensen, said Wednesday night.

Jurgensen declined to comment on the length of the investigation or say what led to the scrutiny. She said the paper does not plan to correct any of his stories at this time.

Kelley, who resigned Tuesday, was a 2002 Pulitzer Prize finalist in beat reporting for his series on centers of foreign terrorism.

Kelley could not be reached for comment Wednesday night. His home telephone number was not available.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that Kelley had been accused in an anonymous letter of falsifying stories.

as per this article: http://www.findarticles.com/cf_dls/m0EIN/2000_June_5/62504517/p1/article.jhtml

iExalt, Inc. (OTCBB:IXLT), a provider of Internet products and services to the Christian community, families and businesses, announced today that its ChristianSpeakers.com subsidiary has added two distinguished individuals to its growing roster of speakers. ChristianSpeakers.com will serve as the exclusive representative for the Christian speaking engagements of entertainer Art Linkletter and journalist Jack Kelley.

2. Now THAT'S interesting..............
From the article you located:

Kelley is chief foreign correspondent of USA Today. He has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize four times and has won numerous other journalism awards for both his written and broadcast work. Kelley has traveled the world, covering stories such as the Persian Gulf War, the Soviet coup, the Arab-Israeli peace accord, and the ongoing war in Bosnia, among others. He has reported from 82 countries, interviewed 34 heads of state, been shot at in three different wars, and been jailed twice on two different continents. Kelley joined USA Today as a news assistant upon graduating from the University of Maryland, three months before the paper's launch in September 1982.
Fascinating.

Thanks for adding depth to this information.

3. Not another Good Christian to bite the dust.
I once made my whole Christian group stare in dis-belief. They were talking about the few who go to church and when I grew up the churches were filled. And I said well who cared as the people going now are Most likely the real Christians.Well I was told not to think that way. But lets face it a lot of people went to church because it was the thing to do and they lived in the town.Ran a business you had to go to church. You could hardly live in the South now with out going to church. OH well that may be to hard on people. I am sure this man, Kelly, will be telling Christians how to live even if he does it so badly himself.

4. just because he calls himself a christian, that doesn't
make him good.

and last time I checked, lots of people in the south are still attending church and using that as a platform to justify all sorts of abuses of church and state.

You can add Kelly to that illustrious list of people who call themselves Christians and tell other people how to live while ignoring the message of Christ for their own myopic and perverted world view along with-

billy graham
pat robertson
george bush
john ashcroft
jerry falwell
randall terry
the nut, rushdooney

...and so many, many more...

6. All certifiable f*ck'n nutcases.... add to the list
Jim and Tammy Fay Baker--now that was a pair that would beat a full house and god *talked* to them too.

The Rocky Mountain news recently had an article about god telling Pat Robertson that Bush was gonna win in 2004. Do people actually beleive this crap? I guess so because the wacko religious right doesn't seem to lack any cash.

12. Ahhhh, that brings me back...
I used to be a sales rep and had to call on Pat Robertson’s “Christian Broadcasting Network” (If you think you wouldn’t like them from where you are, try calling on them!). It was not too long after Jim and Tammy left Pat’s happy family that I met with a guy I liked in the CBN IT dept. He told me that after the Baker’s split, the crew that staffed Jim’s TV show on the network, hated… HATED!!!... Baker so much that they (good Christians all) took all the furniture and backdrops that made up his set out to the parking lot – and set it on fire!!

There are other stories about that group. I’ll save them for another post.

7. Deep, Inspirational thoughts from Jack Kelley
(snip) Reporting from Hell's Doorstep
Jack Kelley covers the world's hot spots

by Jeffrey S. McDonald

He has been stalked by snipers, caught in a Kosovo minefield, and arrested in Cuba. He has watched helplessly as children starved in Somalia and stood over mass graves in Rwanda. He has tracked crime bosses in Russia and read the diaries of soldiers slain during the Persian Gulf War.

As a foreign correspondent for USA Today, Jack Kelley has traveled to 86 countries and conducted interviews with 36 heads of state, including Fidel Castro, Yasser Arafat, the Dalai Lama (who, jokester that he is, burped in Jack's face), and Mikhail Gorbachev.

What has brought him to the front lines of human conflict and tragedy?

"Journalism is a calling," he explains. "I feel God's pleasure when I write and report. It isn't because of the glory, but because God has called me to proclaim truth, and to worship and serve him through other people."

His role models, he says, are four of "the greatest journalists of all time": Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

"I try to be people's ears, eyes, and hearts so they can understand the times they are living in," he says.

9. vomit
no doubt he has no ideological blinders, that liberal media whore!

he sounds more like a missionary than a reporter...he spiel is standard "missionary speak."

...but it's so good to know that god has Bush in office lying about reasons to kill thousands of people in other lands, and god has reporters to support those lies.

thou shalt not kill.

thou shalt not bear false witness

woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourself.

Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

...but Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.

But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be the great among you, shall be your minister:

And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be the servant of all.

...in other words, you scribes, Pharisees and false profiteerers, Jesus explicitly denied worldly power as worthy of his followers' attention. Instead, Jesus told his real followers to serve others, rather than seek power.

...and to render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar's, and unto God that which is God's.

Jesus never endorsed any govt or any man as a leader of a govt, and any one who calls him or herself a Christian who claims to speak for Christ annointing an earthly leader is, in fact, a perverter of the teachings of Jesus.
