Iran says documents show U.S. backing "terrorists"
Source: Reuters

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran has access to evidence of U.S. support for terrorist groups in the Middle East, a senior Iranian official was quoted as saying on Sunday.

Iran's new chief nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, made the allegation in comments to visiting Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan, whose country may soon send troops to hunt down Kurdish guerrillas in northern Iraq.

Tehran says the rebels are operating in Iraq with U.S. forces present in the country and this shows Washington is refraining from tackling them.

Like Turkey, Iran also has faced cross-border attacks by Kurdish rebels and has shelled targets inside Iraq in response.

2. I doubt Iran has any real proof, but then neither did the U.S. on Iraq's WMDs
They're just giving bush a tit for a tat. However, right now some people in Turkey are more willing than usual to believe them.

I'm not saying that Bush/Cheney aren't in bed with some of the same groups they've labeled as terrorist, just that I don't expect any evidence of such to come from Iran's claim.

3. This is about the PKK ....
Which falls into a netherworld of 1) Trusted Iraqi Sectarian ... and 2) Violent Anti-Turkish 'terrorist' group ....

The PKK has been supported by Americans for decades .... There came a time when they declared the PKK as 'terrorist', but that declaration was intended to alleviate Turkish concerns, with the added bonus of satisfying Sunni and Shiite elements ....

The US has been swinging many tigers by the tail .... it was just a matter of time for them to get crossed up on their own rhetoric ....

7. Oh, this is definitely about the PKK
You're correct on that. And also that the US has been swinging many tigers by the tail in that region.

Iran and Turkey share more than just a border, they share their hatred of the PKK and neither have any love for the US. Iran would love to escalate the current situation between Turkey and the PKK they if they could. I just feel that if they could have already they would have. This is just giving Turkish officials more to bargain with when they meet with Rice on Thursday.

Iran and Turkey are scheming behind the scenes and that they both, and the rest of the region for that matter, know the real score is not in doubt. What is in doubt is if Bush is going to be able to defuse the situation.

12. It's no wonder we hear so little about how Rice's diplomatic efforts go...
The whole world has her at a disadvantage before she even sits down.

11. We do fund anti government militias in Iran.
And we have had commandos in Iran, just like we did in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Staying away from the likes of CNN and tuning in to link tv and free speech is the first step.

9. why would you have to...
side with anyone?...especially over 71 million people vs. Mr. Bush. I've never been to Iran. I've met exactly one Iranian back in 1979. I worked with him at a hotel in Boston. Very nice guy. He said he was from Iraq, because Americans hated Iran. That's all I know about Iran.

10. No one is suggesting you should.
Realizing that Iran is trying to leverage this situation between Turkey and the PKK to their favor isn't siding with Iran. It's just paying attention to a situation that could very get out of control.

13. the bushes support their power grab, and as long as "terror" "terror" and fear planting gives them a
pass on all of their crimes against the constitution of the United States, hell, yes, they are going to support those terrorists who will make it seem like the bushes are fighting an hornorable cause: that of keeping the homeland safe. please do remember the first terrorist they support is OBL who in turn supports them -- proof of that: what more than all the OBL tapes released at key moments in the Bush administration's need to remind the people that a terrorist looms out there and that bush is the tough guy who is going to get him.

14. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Of coarse the Amerikan government supports terrorist organization. Hell they even create a few or two. Al Q, Taliban, Contras, etc, etc.
There is even a training center "School of the America's" where they learn all there is to know on how to mame, kill, and torture.
Now they have a home bred corporate terrorist military at their disposal that answers to no one, run by the Prince of Darkness himself, Blackwater.

17. No, we and our proxy groups are "Freedom Fighters"
Reagan said so, when he called the Contra terrorists of Nicaragua "freedom fighters" and the "moral equivalent of the Founding Fathers". Remember, Pro-American Killers: Freedom Fighters; anti-American Killers: Terrorists.
