$18 Mill. Lawsuit: (Atlanta) Fulton finally settles suit by 8 librarians
Fulton County consists of most of the city of Atlanta, and now the taxpayers there have to ante up for blatant racial discrimination.
I live in a nearby county, and am glad I won't have my taxes raised due to this.

Paragraphs below are from the news story:

A racial discrimination suit in Fulton County's library system finally has been settled, costing county taxpayers $18 million.

The librarians sued in 2000 after seven of them, who are white, said they were demoted and moved to outlying branches and one African-American employee was punished for speaking up against the transfers.

...public comments made by board members damaged the defendants' case, especially a recorded public remark by board member William McClure, that "there are too many old white women" in management positions at the downtown library. McClure, who was board chairman then and is still a member, said the board needed "to get rid of them."

1. 'old' and 'women' are the key words here
There are way too many people in this society who don't want to have to look at old women.

2. Fulton County settled a major discrimination lawsuit several years ago.
It was big enough to make the Paul Harvey show. An individual who was found partially liable was Fulton County Manager, John Stanford, a retired general and friend of Colin Powell.

However, Stanford had already fled Georgia after being recruited by the Seattle Chamber of Commerce to screw children as the Superintendent of the Seattle School District. Amazingly, he was hauled into court in a major Seattle discrimination lawsuit about the same time his case was being heard in Atlanta.

Stanford had powerful friends, which explains why he narrowly escaped justice in Seattle and was excused from any penalties in the Atlanta case. Amazingly, the big dummy celebrated by hawking real estate on TV, then exploiting Seattle students in a sensational blackmail attempt.

Just when it seemed Stanford had finally self-destructed, he was diagnosed with leukemia, and the Seattle Chamber of Commerce led a months-long mourning campaigin, which wasn't all that different from George W. Bush's celebration of 9/11.

Stanford was being groomed for a position as U.S. Secretary of Education and almost certainly would have been picked for the spot by either pResident Al Gore or pResident George W. Bush.
