Zimbabwe Opposition Demands Electoral Reform As Proof Of Good Faith
Source: Voice of America

Zimbabwe's opposition Movement for Democratic Change is accusing the ruling party of bad faith in their ongoing South African-mediated crisis negotiations, charging that Harare has failed to implement agreements they have reached in the talks.

Opposition sources said negotiators from the two MDC factions will press for reform in the maintenance of the national voters roll as a critical test of ZANU-PF sincerity.

Opposition officials say the ruling party in past elections has manipulated the voters roll as one of its key rigging tactics, so they are determined to extract meaningful concessions on how the voters roll is updated and made available.

There has been a hiatus in the talks since late last week when Justice Minister Patrick Chinimasa, the ruling party's lead negotiator, received news of the death of his son.

1. Mugabe deals in bad-faith?
If South Africa is mediating the political affairs between Zim's ZANU-PF and the MDC, perhaps Tsvirangirai's beef is more w/ Mbeki.
Zimbabwe is one of those dark little corners of the world the West could choose to help, but refuses.

2. The South African mediation is irrelivant,
Mugabe isn't living up to the smallest promises that have been made - South Africa is in a tough position they have no use for Mugabe but they are breaking under the strain Zimbabwean and Rhodesian refugees are putting on South Africa and they are trying to keep the situation from getting worse.

the only thing that would help Zimbabwe is putting Mugabe and his Rhodesian bagmen the Davies and Bredenkamp's and international criminal he harbors Nicholas Hoogstraten on a one way flight to anywhere else. The wealthiest Rhodesians made a bargain with Mugabe when white rule ended, if you protect us from land reform, we will stay out of politics and subsudize you staying in power to protect us. The bargain has never been broken and the two largest land owners in Zimbabwe are the Davies and Hoogstraten, who as a white Briton has actually been on the receiving end of land reform!

As long as Mugabe and his white money men are in Zimbabwe he will be able to keep it up till he drops dead.

3. Help who
Mugabe?

Any and all aid sent to Zim will be stolen and misused.

Mugabe created this mess...and he is still in charge.

Or, do you mean the West should be seeking regmine change in Zimbabwe?
