(Indiana) Dem official under fire for backing GOP
Source: Terre Haute Tribune-Star

TERRE HAUTE — A Vigo County Democratic precinct committeeman plans to petition for the party secretary’s removal after he allegedly supported several party opponents.

Committeeman Chris Gambill said Friday that he intends on petitioning the party for the removal of Mike Ellis, secretary of the county Democrat Central Committee. He alleges that Ellis has worked on behalf of Republican candidates in the past several elections, including mayor-elect Duke Bennett. Ellis wrote a letter to the editor of the Tribune-Star published Wednesday in which he encourages Mayor Kevin Burke, a Democrat, to abandon his challenge to the mayoral race results on the grounds of Bennett’s eligibility for candidacy.

Gambill then wrote a letter published Thursday that states that while Ellis has the right to support and work for any candidate, if he chooses to support the Republican Party he should immediately resign his position with the Democratic Party.

Ellis introduced his letter and signed the correspondence by stating his position with the local Democratic Party. Gambill in his letter calls for Ellis to resign “or be removed by a vote of” Democratic Party officeholders.

And people wonder why I cringe when Bayh gets mentioned as a VP pick. Nothing like having a bunch of guys in office who think video game violence is more dangerous to my kids than sending them to Iraq.

5. Any Democratic Party official should be removed for this
In fact, it may even be in the Indiana Party Rules.

6. I'm sick of Republicans campaigning on the good name and financial backing of the Democratic Party.
If those shitbags want to vote like Republickers, they should RUN as Republickers.

7. Come down to Florida.
It's a way of life down here. If they can't find a Dem to run, they'll recruit a repuke to run as a Dem.

9. They have to do this. It sends the right message. If you're a declared
Democrat, then be a Democrat and not a swing voter.

10. Maybe he should register
with the Connecticut for Liebermann Party.
I know the spelling is wrong, but the double nn at the end of the name gives it a certain feeling, of oh I don't know, maybe marching in lockstep.

19. He's not really a dino, he's sour grapes
He ran for Prosecutor, got beat by a Dem, in the primary then, backed the Repb. in the general. The Dem that beat him was on the same team as the present mayor and there has been bad blood. Besides, he's a jerk. The present mayor also a Dem, reminds me of Bush. So I'm glad the Repb. won. But, we all know the most votes don't always matter when it gets to court.
I haven't seen the Hatch Act mentioned here. The mayor also filed a claim that the Repb. can't be Mayor because of the Hatch Act.
Terre Haute hasn't had a Rep. mayor since maybe the 70's? So sometimes people do run as Dems so they can get elected.

13. it was one of those here in Orange County, acting as
chair of the Resolutions Committee, that killed the censure of difi last weekend. He endorses local publican candidates as well. He has NO business chairing a state level committee as important as resolutions.

15. If he does not work for the people of Orange Co. vote him out!
As I tell people, if I don't do my job, kick my ass out! But if you like my work, then join the fight for Indiana citizens rights.
My "Fight'n 44's" are now in 5 counties in Southern Indiana. Lawrence, Monroe, Orange, Washington, and Jackson. We are ready for the fight. I have let it be known, State Senator Brent Steele...I am coming for your job sir.
