Clark won’t respond to rivals’ criticism
http://198.181.156.134/nhprimary2004/pc/clark/january/clark_0109_ap_a.htm

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Increasingly under attack by his Democratic rivals, retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark is holding his fire, for now.

"I don’t want to get into the conventional politics mode," he said Thursday in an interview with The Associated Press. "There may come a time when I’m going to have to talk about other people. I’m not going to say I never will ... (but) I’m keeping my eye on what’s good for America."

*****

Why am I not surprised? It appears that the General is taking his cues from many of his DU supporters.

9. Thank you
That's just not right. I support Clark but will never condone that kind of attack or anything that even comes close to it.

3. He is exactly right to do that.
It's presidential...he stays above the fray. More of the democratic candidates should be doing that.

7. conventional politics mode
That's exactly what it is... Politics as usual, from politicians. If this is the way they are before they become president, what will they be like after they are elected...?

The Status quo- that's what.

Good for Clark. Stress why you are the best man against Bush, and keep pressing it. Leave the mudslinging for lesser men.

11. I like Dean and I like Clark....but ya gotta let it all hang out!
After listening to Chuck Lewis last night on Bill Moyers "Now" - It was depressing to say the least. No one can afford to stay quiet. With all of junior's campaign monies and using the WH as a launching pad junior will be hard to beat. They showed some the ads that junior is gonna run against Dean. Sick and powerful is all I gotta say!

14. He'd better respond.
Remember Dukakais refusing to defend himself?

I really, really like Clark. If my pick doesn't get the nod, I'm going all-out for Clark to do so. And I want to see him at least defending himself. No offense needed - just defense.

15. And Gore didn't defend himself, either
I think that attacks *do* have to be addressed and nipped in the bud before they become "facts." I hope that whoever wins the Dem nod will do a better job refuting media/Repub lies than Gore did.

16. First, Clark DOES Get His Digs In Against Democrats-
he just knows how to do it with finesse. He doesn't do direct attacks... he makes an oblique reference that depends on the listener making their own inferences.

As for Bush- Clark and his campaign have lambasted them on many occassions now.
