Hmmm, in a hostile territory where everyone HATES you and have killed more than 500 of your PALS, and they just now find out allllll those chopper crashes were caused by odd and strange things like BULLETS or mortors???

HOLY CRIPES, these guys are SWIFT on the uptake. Glad they're in CHARGE.

18. Sometimes ...
But only rarely when the helio was first observed to have had its tail-rotor blown off by a rocket - as was noted in the early reports of the "accident".

4. That's Nine Soldiers Folks
NINE in one day. Has America had enough yet of this farce? Why aren't people rising up in arms against Bush as their husbands, wives, sons and daughters get turned into canon fodder?

TARPON SPRINGS - Aaron Weaver fought his way out of a bloody battle in Somalia and survived three cancer surgeries before he volunteered as an Army pilot in Iraq.
At 32, one month away from returning to his wife and two children, the former track athlete was flying to a medical checkup when death caught up to him.

-------------

meanwhile back at the ranch Dim Son wants to "inspire" the nation with tales of moon colonization and space travel. How does that mofo sleep at night?

14. Who will remember men like Mr. Weaver? Certainly not Bush & Co.
"Aaron Weaver's death has a particular resonance as he had won a medal for saving a fellow soldier's life during the ill-fated 1993 US intervention in Somalia.

His efforts were featured in Black Hawk Down, which portrayed the Battle of Mogadishu when 18 US Rangers died in a fight with Somali militiamen. During the fight, Weaver volunteered to head into combat as a reinforce ment after two helicopters had been shot down, leaving their wounded crews surrounded by hostile forces.

He also survived a long struggle with testicular cancer and continued his service in the military despite his illness. He signed a medical waiver specifically so that he could be sent to Iraq. "

Condolences to his family and all of those killed and wounded in Bush's fight.

11. As a former Red Cross worker
no, not the American Red Cross, a national society where we actually
took our lives in our hands from time to time.. I can testify for a fact

The emblem is very good when used as a cross hair.. as a target acquisition device, and yes you are guaranteed to get some fire from some MOFO who may need you to pull them out... and on humanitarian reasons YOU DO.

Still.. teh jokes that flew in this house were full of ahem, gallows humor.

And no Shrub would not get them either.

7. The military seems to be taking orders from Rove.

The first press reports always state only the obvious -- the helicopter went down -- but we're not sure why. Two days later, when the story has faded, they admit it was shot down. Now let's move on. Nothing to see here.

When I was a kid there was a tv ad campaign for Radio Free Europe. We were shown images of oppressed people "behind the iron curtain" who had no access to a free press -- and therefore no access to the truth. Those who rely on the corporate press in this country today don't know it but they are living behind that same iron curtain.

8. Americans used to sneer at
communist countries where people were brain washed by broadcasts from the officialdom. You're right, we've become the Soviet Union. If Bush objects to comparisons to Hitler, why not liken him to Stalin? After seeing the treatment of protesters by the Florida police late last year I suspect dissidents could now be sent to the gulags without due process if they're not careful. :-(

10. What sreally sad
is how this story and other's like it, disappear from the headlines so quickly and nary a cry from the sheeple.. Have we gotten so use to these deaths that they mean so little today.. I am so saddened every time I read about another death or injury..

12. Remember
for many people the excuse that "They volunteered" is good enough

Also the protest are there... but you will not see it in the front page of the NYT... and for the most part the RWers, at least that is my feeling, DON'T Care.

13. First they said eight onboard and four dead.
Naturally I discounted it because version 2.0 and later were due out soon.

15. I'm confused. Which helicopter crash was this exactly?
Was this the one where they originally said "8 people dead as helicopter sets down"? Or was this a different one. With all these helicopters crashing these days, who knows?

Homer: In case you didn't realise, I was being sarcastic......

16. This story was knocked ...
off the news the other day and replaced with the earth shattering
announcement that the Scott Peterson trial was granted a change of venue and Howard Dean made some inocuous comments on a Canadian political talk show a few years ago.
Unbelievable what the media deems news worthy these days.
What's even more frustrating is that I think most of the people in this country just don't give a damn anymore.
