Bush savaged by former Treasury chief
Bush savaged by former Treasury chief
By Alan Beattie in Washington
Published: January 9 2004 21:47 | Last Updated: January 9 2004 21:47

President George W. Bush's performance at cabinet meetings resembled that of "a blind man in a room full of deaf people", according to Paul O'Neill (pictured), who was fired as Treasury secretary in 2002.

The remarkable personal attack is made by Mr O'Neill in a forthcoming book, according to excerpts from a television interview to be broadcast on Sunday.

In the CBS Sixty Minutes interview Mr O'Neill, the former chief executive of the aluminium company Alcoa, says there was little constructive dialogue between officials and the president.

7. Well, the media used same words...
against the guy (forgot his name), who undressed the republicans after they had caused so much damage to the Clintons. He proved that Hillary was right about the right-wing conspiracy. The guy was investigated and media printed how he was on depression pills, etc.

And how about against Ambassador Wilson? And how about against Hans Blix? And how about...that guy that was on TV early on, talking about the lies of nuclear warheads in Iraq. You don't see him on TV anymore. He was terribly smeared. The media is so anti-American.

Good. Maybe the American public will finally see there is no such thing as truth with this administration.
