1. One way or another
whoever passed that note is so busted. If it was a joke, he won't be laughing when he gets thrown in Gitmo.

If it wasn't a joke, that's too awful to contemplate.

2. And in related news ...
... handwriting analysts from the Department of Homeland Security quickly denied reports that the writing on the note was similar to that of White House adviser Karl Rove.

At a hastily arranged news conference, White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters: "To even suggest that Mr. Rove would somehow benefit from an heightened sense of fear and paranoia is irresponsible and unpatriotic."

4. And was there a bomb on the plane?
Why am I not surprised.

I'll never understand why some people think that kind of thing is charming, because it's not. But it happens all too often. Personally, I think the best way to handle it is to ignore it. Don't give anyone the satisfaction of creating a ruckus.

Back in the mid '70s there was a steady stream of bomb threats at DCA (National Airport) where I worked at the time. At first, they'd close the airport, evacuate everyone from the terminal buildings, and search for a bomb. Since none was ever found, they eventually got to the point where they'd quietly notify the employees that there was a bomb threat, and be prepared to evacuate if necessary. No bombs. Ever. The one time one went off in Laguardia there was no phoned in threat about it.

Draw your own conclusions.
