Harkin, Gore Attend Dean Rally in Iowa

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Flanked by his two highest-profile backers, Howard Dean (news - web sites) on Saturday launched another assault on President Bush (news - web sites), asserting that he "doesn't understand ordinary Americans."


Dean hastily revamped his schedule to make a joint appearance with former Vice President Al Gore (news - web sites) and Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin.


"This is an extraordinary moment for me," Dean said in a college chapel filled to overflowing.


Both Harkin and Gore said they endorsed Dean because he has energized the Democratic Party and brought legions of new people into politics.

5. From "outsider" to "establishment candidate" in under a year

At this point, supporters of ANY candidate would be remiss to give him less than a 50% chance at the nomination, IMHO. Amazing, considering the talented field and his start as a relative unknown.

Time to stop the petty infighting, we have to start thinking about the harsh realities of the upcoming general election. All you Clark and Kerry hardliners, take just FIVE minutes to consider what you'll do to help if Dean is the headliner.
