Bush advisers debating what to do about Syria - Invade of course!
By Warren P. Strobel and John Walcott
Knight Ridder Newspapers

WASHINGTON - Senior aides to President Bush are vigorously debating what to do about Syria as evidence mounts that the government in Damascus is stepping up support for the terror group Hezbollah and allowing anti-American insurgents to reach Iraq, according to U.S. officials.

Civilians in Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's office are pushing for military action against Syria short of an invasion and have drawn up plans for punitive airstrikes and cross-border incursions by U.S. forces, according to three officials.

1. War is their only "good for politics" move,...
,...as they are experiencing political death by a thousand slashes of bits and pieces of "truth".

Syria is on the PNAC map.

I am bracing for the possibility of the "Freon Neocons" successful push for a spillover of warring towards Syria.

2. "as evidence mounts" - what evidence????
The same kind of top-notch high-quality intelligence "evidence" Powell, Rice, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Bush used to justify their first preemptive war?

Are US military forces in I-raq - already stretched to the breaking point - ready for another major war????

Can you say Cambodia?????

8. Might be the same evidence they had back in April…
Before Rice fessed up the other day….now that plan A’s lies were exposed, we might be seeing plan B’s lies emerging….

3. They'll sing songs, don't ya know
"If we let our vision of the world go forth, and we embrace it entirely, and we don't try to piece together clever diplomacy but just wage total war, our children will sing great songs about us years from now."

10. Every time I read that "vision", I feel sick,...
,...Perle is a very dark individual, indeed. His vision evolves from a dark and dangerous perspective of all human life and will surely generate both despair and hell towards anyone operating outside his delusion. He is a VERY DISTURBED man.

14. Perle truly has a "malignant heart and deceitful tongue."
As do many leaders in the republican party. Perle though seems to personify the foul, fetid breath of evil more than most.

12. You miss the point!
Who said AMERICANS are going to war?

No doubt in my mind Rummy wants to cut costs and outsource the armed forces to have Asians and Africans hired in the US Armed services, a lot cheaper, n'est-ce pas?

15. Syria is on the front line with Isreal
and attacking Syria is essentially taking open military action on the Israeli side of the Middle East.

The only purpose of this that I can see is to intentionally provoke WWIII.

These people are insane and must be stopped. We must win this election, or there are dark days ahead.

19. Time after time people in the adminsitration refer to the Next Bush War
and the obedient media treats it as barely newsworthy.

From near the end of the article:
Some of Bush's hard-line advisers have argued for two years that Syria's regime should be the next U.S. target after Iraq.
http://www.indiemediamagazine.com/article.php?story=20040111222937359

Another comment referring to the Next Bush War was in the final paragraph of a November, 2003 Newsweek story about Cheney's involvement in selling the Iraq war:
His staffers are not unmindful of the risk of crying wolf, however, and acknowledge that if weapons of mass destruction are never found in Iraq, the public will be much less likely to back pre-emptive wars in the future.
http://editor.msnbc.msn.com/id/3475064/

I have found that many Bush supporters I have talked to are extremely uneasy about supporting the Next Bush War. More often than not they deny that Bush has any desire to invade or attack another country. (This is not true of KKKreepers or most Shittoheads.)

Bush should be challenged on this. He would look bad lying once again about his plans and it would remind voters who do not follow politics of all of his previous lies.

20. Another step of the Regime change list.
But how far away do you reckon Syria is away from launching WMD?
About 2 hours maybe.?
Well I guess we should wait, until after Powell lays out the pinpoint proof of the map,and the graft,of where Syria has their stockpile of WMD.

Powell's layout will be real credible and irrefutable evidence, gathered from incredibly credible sources,of which we can not reveal at the moment since that may compromise our sources confidentiality.

Seems to me like the Syrians need to be liberated too, because we are in direct threat from their leaders, who hate our way of life and our freedoms, and of course we have a divine right to rid the world of EVIL DOERS.
God Bless America

21. With what?
Girl scouts? No spare forces for invasion. Units leaving Iraq need complete overhaul. A significant draw down in forces in Iraq will have to occur first.

25. Were we planning on, like, training and arming them first?
Or is this going to be like the opening scene in Enemy at the Gates where every other guy piling out of the cattle car gets a rifle.

How long exactly is it going to take to double the size of our effective force?

Does anyone really think that all of the Guard and Reserves going home this Spring won't 1) be prevented from leaving the service and 2) be back in uniform, or around the first Wednesday in November, 2004?
