W and aides broadcast media hate
W & aides broadcast media hate

Lowdown
by Lloyd Grove

He didn't even - like his father - preside over the
destruction of the Berlin Wall.

Yet George W. Bush tells New Yorker writer Ken
Auletta: "No President has ever done more for
human rights than I have."

With stunners like that, no wonder he spends so
little time with journalists.

The President's eyebrow-raising assertion comes during some Oval Office chitchat
after Auletta - writing about the testy relations between the Bush White House and
the news media - sits in on an interview with a British newspaper reporter.

1. If dying and unemployment are basic human rights...
Then yes, he's done a bang-up job.

Remember, he's appointed by God, he honestly believes himself.

2. Maybe he means he's done more for rites
Shoving his invisible friend down our throats.

Or maybe he's just a pathological lier.

4. When is he going to announce his divinity?
After a statement like "No president has done more for human rights.........", what's left?

5. I can't wait til they're all in handcuffs
Those arrogant pricks.

And Chief of Staff Andy Card scoffs: " don't represent the public any more than other people do. In our democracy, the people who represent the public stood for election."

Card argues that it's not the responsibility of top White House policymakers to provide reporters with facts.

"It's not our job to be sources. The taxpayers don't pay us to leak!" Card tells Auletta. "Our job is not to make your job easy."

How many good 'uns can you invent?

Ronald McD: "No one has ever done more for health food coops than I have."

GMC: "No car has ever done more for automobile safety than the Pinto."

Sauron: "No one has ever done more for the heirloom jewelry scene than I have."

Come on! This is a gold mine!

9. Your title is insulting to dictators everywhere
What about Pol Pot (who managed to get off under house arrest), that Romanian guy (Colceascu or something like that?), Napolean Bonaparte, or that guy who killed all the Serbs (another one whose name escaped my fragile cranium)?

10. That is pretty funny ,come to think of it
Even though I don't know how to spell moran too well, it looks even funnier with that back-ward's common sense of * applied to it. Sort of like the non-quote from Al Gore of him saying he invented the INTERNET

14. I beg to differ...
about * spending little time with journalists.
No one in the White House Press Corps (except perhaps one) is
worthy of the title "journalist".ü
