War College Report: Iraq War an 'Error'
By BOB JOHNSON, Associated Press Writer

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A report published by the Army War College calls the Bush administration's war on terrorism unfocused and says the invasion of Iraq (news - web sites) was "a strategic error".

The research paper by Jeffrey Record, a professor at the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, said the president's strategy "promises much more than it can deliver" and threatens to spread U.S. military resources too thin. Record also wrote that Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s Iraq did not present a threat to the United States and was a distraction from the war on terrorism.

4. this is a big deal
within the army, the War College has an awfully high reputation.

Word gets out on this, you won't be able to keep the soldiers in Iraq, they'll be hitchhiking home.

5. Its reputation would be better
If the obvious prognosis had been stated earlier and more strongly.
You have to go to college to see the sun come up? I hardly think this is a shocker to the field forces in iraq.

6. Bush is getting hammered lately!
The last 2 weeks should have devestated him. Weapons inspectors leave Iraq empty handed. Bush planned war and oil contracts immediately after being inagurated. If Clinton did this imagine what the GOP response would have been?
