1. You've got to be kidding me.
One would think a Kucinich endorsement would be much more likely from Mr. Moore.

Clark is my second choice.

But Michael Moore going from Nader to Clark? That's a stunner!

We are indeed living in "Strange Times" folks.

3. Moore hates Bush.
Therefore, he is going for the man who has the best chance to beat him. And a lot of liberal values, at that.

Endorsing Kucinich would be a waste of time for Moore. He knows how important the upcoming election is for the future of America, and the world.

So he figured he'd support the third party guy in order to help the Greens get funding.

37. Moore endorsed Nader with the caveat that he not campaign...
actively in closely-contested states. Nader's people went ahead and did it anyway. Moore gives the full account in Stupid White Men.

I agree that Moore was merely trying to help the Green party to receive federal election funds for the next time around. You see, Moore is one of those people with the crazy idea that we should vote for a candidate that we think would do a good job as President, and not just a schlub who is not as heinously evil as the other schlub.

31. Who's the 'gun control guy'?
If you're refering to Moore, I think it would be more accurate to label him 'the NRA control guy' or 'the special interest control guy' but I'm puzzled by anyone who calls him a 'gun control guy'

that makes him a left-wing-pinko-gun-control guy who hates America and all things holy and decent.

6. I'm still waiting
I'm still waiting for the inevitable accusations that Moore is a sell-out turncoat anti-progressive Republican infiltrator.

Congrats to Wes Clark, though I doubt it'll make much of a difference at this stage. When I saw Moore speak during his book tour, he made it clear that if either Kucinich, Dean, or Clark won the nomination, he'd be satisfied.

7. Hmmmmmm... Something smells fishy here.
I do not trust Wesley Clark; I smell Republcan operative, from his 9/11 antics to his appearance on David Letterman.

As for Michael Moore, wasn't he once Ralph Nader's campaign manager, or something like that? I was duped by Nader myself, but Moore worked with the guy; he should have known what he was all about.

Al Gore deserts Joe Lieberman for Howard Dean, while Michael Moore snubs Kucinich and Dean for Wesley Clark. In the meantime, Paul O'Neill turns on the Republicans.

So what other momentous desertions are in store for us?

36. I'll ignore the Repug operative comment, but "his appearance Letterman?"
I vaguely remember that. What the hell was wrong with that?

Sometimes I don't know if I'm on Free Repuglic or DU when I read these comments about the various candidates? While I have a couple of favorites, I will gladly support whoever the nominee. So, I just don't get this.

That one sentence is the entire story. It doesn't quite provide evidence for a singular endorsement, does it? I'm sure Moore would like to see Al Sharpton debate the deserter, too.

13. Congrats to Clark Troops!
Looks like the General reeled a big one!

I guess the "convoy" is really moving out eh?

Best wishes for all the Clark Troopers.
But, intel suggests that the route is heavily mined and a T-80 lurking near the objective.

May the best camp win!

25. Clark Defended Moore &Liberals- Paltrow also backing Clark
Think Moore must remember how Clark stood up for him following his Oscar speech. And Clark's defense of liberals- it was on Moore's website. Read tonight Gwyneth Paltrow was bashing bush and backing Clark. Heard Moore didnt care for Dean's stance on guns. All I know is I will back anyone running against bush. ANYONE!!! So good luck to all the candidates.

28. that is not an endorsement
It is just a comment--and what is its source and context? It is irresponsible and a distortion (I'll refrain from coming right out and saying it's a lie) to write a headline like that on the basis of one out of context remark. As someone above says, Moore would undoubtedly like to see Sharpton debate the chimp.

32. Congratulations to General Clark
for this fine endorsement. Surprising, I must say. And no, that's not a back-handed comment, but, as other posters have commented, Moore supported (for awhile) Nader in the 2000 election, so this was unexpected. I, too, would have expected a Kucinich or Mosely-Braun endorsement. Again, Congrats to the General.

I do like what the sentence says, "'He's an honest and decent man. I would like to see the General debate the deserter'". But to say this means he is endorsing Clark is a stretch.

If Moore does endorse Clark, then congratulations to Wes. He is still my #2 pick, but of course Dean is my #1.

Edited on Tue Jan-13-04 10:10 AM by Kbick
http://www.enviros4clark.com/

If you look at Clark's policies, you will see that he is far more progressive than any front runner.

That is why I don't understand how people support Dean who is anti-affirmative action, pro-states rights, and anti-universal heath care.

Just my two cents...

43. I wonder why Moore's endorsement isn't on his website
I just looked at it and it has been updated as recently as yesterday in the "Must Read" area. It seems odd that the only report is this one line on somebody else's website is being considered an endorsement.
I like Clark very much. I haven't made up my mind as far as who I like the most yet as far as our candidates that are running for the primary but, Clark is one of the ones I favor.
I think I will wait for more solid confirmation of an endorsement from Michael Moore than one line on a website when it's not even on his own website.
By the way, I think we have a wonderful group of individuals running in the Democratic primaries and any of them is more qualified and more able to run our country than bu$h. I will work hard for the candidate that emerges the winner.
It's unfortunate that Indiana is mainly a Republican state with our little Northwest corner being the concentration of Democrats. It's my hope that some of the other residents of Indiana wake up and vote for someone that will represent the people of this country rather than the faceless corporations that will lead to our ruination.
