Deputies: Bradenton Beach commissioner threatened slow driver
Associated Press

BRADENTON BEACH, Fla. - A new city commissioner, angry at the plodding pace of the car in front of her, threatened the 65-year-old driver, daring him to call the police and saying she would give him a ticket, according to a sheriff's report.

The complaint about Lisa Marie Phillips, who was elected in November, was forwarded to the state attorney's office, which will decide whether to press charges, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported.

Ronald Ockerman told deputies he was driving with his wife earlier this month when he stopped at a blind intersection, even though there was no stop sign.

Phillips, who was driving behind him, slammed on her horn, then swerved around and cut him off, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Report. Ockerman said Phillips, 41, made an obscene gesture, which Ockerman said he returned. He said she then she got out of her car and started yelling at him. (snip)

"Go ahead, call the police. I am a city commissioner. I run the police, and I run the chief," the sheriff's report quoted Ockerman quoting Phillips. Ockerman said she also threatened to give him a ticket. (snip/...)
