Getting rid of unwanted weed

Toxicologist suggests incineration is best route

CURTIS RUSH
STAFF REPORTER THESTAR.COM

Now that police have broken up the biggest pot growing operation in Canadian history, they face a second problem: how to dispose of 30,000 marijuana plants.

/snip/

"We're not talking pounds and pounds," Cabral said. "We're talking tons and tons."

/snip/

"Police are also considering shredding the plants, mixing it with other garbage and burying it.

"If it were buried, they have to make sure it's deep enough so that it wouldn't germinate," Solomon said. "If it's mixed with other garbage, it would be a lot of work to dig it up, but some people … might attempt to do that. So I suspect they'll incinerate it and won't tell anybody where they're doing it."

Police have confirmed that whatever happens to the plants will happen at a secret location."

SECRET location??

You gotta be kidding!!

That's a major intersection to a major Highway, thousands go by every day!

And you bet ur bootie that there'll be alot MORE people keeping an eye on that location.

Cops ain't that brite to begin with

no way are they gonna "sneak" TONS of weed outta there !

2. Well I'd be happy to do my duty as a citizen...
and take some of it off of their hands.

Hell, I think we could probably get together some kind of internet campaign whereby enough people would be willing enough to accept just as much of the weed as they can w/o it being a major felony. How about it Canada?

4. they confiscated tons of Thai sticks
a few years ago off the Oregon coast and burned it all in the incinerator at our local utility. Many of the buildings here on the University of Oregon campus used to be heated by steam piped in underground from the local utility. There used to be plenty of sawdust and other wood waste from the local lumber mills that was burned for this purpose. They just added the Thai sticks to the mix - probably the most expensive heat ever generated.

12. The best parts aren't useful for fiber
Since the have the whole plants, however, they could use the stalks. I don't think that's the part they have trouble getting rid of, however.

Doesn't Canada have some industrial hemp production already? Maybe it was just being talked about when I heard it...

The Cops will have to spend a million or so to investigate the whole thing,

then charge, and take to trial all them 9 people, plus whatever/whomever else crops up ( no pun on crops)

Then form a task force (we know how great THEM things work) to figure out how this happened right under their noses, and how to prevent it happeneng again (good luck)

Then pay around 80 grand a year per person to keep whomever they convict in jail for a bit.

And THEN,

Health Canada will spend a few million more investigating for a few more years how to grow "quality" stuff

And by 2010,

Health Canada MAY be able to provide (at greater production cost of course) quality close to the millions of dollars of "product" that the government is about to destroy. !

Is that about right

18. When and where will they be burning the stuff?
Edited on Wed Jan-14-04 12:59 AM by DulceDecorum
I assume that the non-smoking witnessess to this bonfire will be upwind
whereas the smoking section will be located downwind, close to the flames and food vendors.
Perhaps they could do this at the next Burning Man festival. Those guys are very good at cleaning up after themselves. I am sure there would be nothing left.

Brownies, cakes, pies, cookies... mmm. Even side salads.

To just burn the stuff indiscriminately would be, dare I say, CRIMINAL!

24. I know a few people who could take care of that problem.
me and three friends would require some of the big big rolling papers (those vogue strip would do nicely), a lot of water,a 7-11 and a month. We'd do it for cheaper than the Canadian government ever could...

27. Wasting these plants is nothing short of criminal
I thought pot was more or less legal in Canada now, so what's the deal? Shit, donate it to the Green Cross or whatever similar groups they have up there.

Stoner jokes all aside, there are enough people with legitmate health problems (cancer, AIDS, etc) who could greatly benefit. At the very least, if the pharmaceutical corporations want their piece of the action, let them extract the THC from the plants and sell it in pill form. Just a damned waste :evilfrown:

into brownies. If there is no market for it you could always ship the surplus to the school lunch program.
