TV President, Movie Director Out for Dean
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean got some star-powered help Tuesday from a man who is president, at least on TV.

Martin Sheen, who plays the fictional President Bartlett on NBC's political drama "The West Wing," stumped for Dean in western Iowa, along with director Rob Reiner, another outspoken Hollywood Democratic activist.

The two made a similar swing through Iowa for Al Gore in 2000.

"We're going into areas where there are a lot of undecideds," Sheen told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "We're just going to try to get people to caucus and focus on what's ahead and who can win, and we're convinced that it's Howard Dean. And it all starts here."

1. Martin Sheen is awesome.
As far as hollywood actors go, he is one that I admire a great deal because he is intelligent and he stands up for what he believes in. He is also a far better President than the "real" one.

4. Dean is sinking fast
Clark will push his way past dean thanks to this USATODAY research... What was Dean thinking?? He sounds like Bush-Lite!!!!

Democratic presidential contender Howard Dean, a strong critic of what he calls President Bush's unilateral approach to foreign policy, urged President Clinton to act unilaterally and enter the war in Bosnia in 1995. (Related item: Text of letter)
"I have reluctantly concluded that the efforts of the United States and NATO in Bosnia are a complete failure," he wrote, citing reports of genocide during the Bosnian civil war. "If we ignore these behaviors ... our moral fiber as a people becomes weakened. ... We must take unilateral action."

The July 19, 1995, letter, obtained by USA TODAY, was written on Dean's official stationery as Vermont governor. The language appears to contradict Dean's core complaint that President Bush has followed a unilateral foreign policy, instead of a multilateral approach that relies on consultation and joint action with allies. He has repeatedly attacked Bush's decision to invade Iraq.

"I think getting rid of Saddam Hussein is a wonderful thing," he saidlast month. "But the question is, is it a good idea to send 135,000 troops unilaterally to do it?"

5. You may be...
... fooled by non-analogous comparisons, but fortunately the majority of us here aren't. Else we might well believe Bush*.

6. I know you can do better than that
Keep digging.

That strategy is not working. You best take those arguements elsewhere. Comparing apples and oranges and quotes taken out of context will certainly not sway my vote away from Dean.

7. apples to oranges??

how is it taken out of context?? He clearly says that since NATO an company are't getting it done and we need to act unilaterally. Doesn't sound like coalition building to me. so when Dean supports a unilateral operation its okay, otherwise its not??

Dean's past keeps creeping in and it keeps looking worse. my money is on Clark.

Why don't you go out and meet Dean and ask him this question yourself? You may be surprised by his answer. Can you provide a link to the entire letter?
