2 Halliburton subcontractors killed in Iraq
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/2353858

Two Halliburton Co. subcontractors were killed and one company employee was injured today, when their convoy was ambushed near Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit, company officials confirmed.

Halliburton officials declined to identify the victims, pending notification of relatives. The workers were part of a team providing logistical support for the U.S. military in Iraq.

Last week, a driver was killed in a similar ambush, the Associated Press reported. A Halliburton spokeswoman said "several" workers have been killed or wounded in Iraq.

1. Bet the family gets more than PFC Smith's family gets.
Find out and dare CNN and Fox to put that on. Or I think I will just dare CNN to find out.

4. Future targets
Any selected officials who will sit in the puppet government. They can't protect them all. Someday someone will find a way to hit the "safe zone". No wonder Bremer is fleeing his glorious viceroy position. he doesn't want to go down nobly like Joseph Bonaparte did in Mexico.

11. You're right. It hasn't shown up anywhere else,
and the Houston article was so small it could easily have been missed.

Makes you wonder how many other incidents have slipped by without any notice at all.

9. Anybody ever try to reconstruct a house that is still on fire?
That's what these subcontractors are trying to do. A friend of the family is over there now, and every time I see one of these news stories it recharges my anger at RoveCo. :grr:

20. an American has to be an idiot to work in Iraq for OIL Profiteers
Will this become a revolving door of corporate oil workers?
-they lose some they'll send some more
-they lose some more, they send replacements.
THESE ATTACKS will likely never stop. EVER.
We kill a few resistors and a few more pop up to defend their land from the occupying invaders.

What a fine opportunity for fine young businessmen!
Carpetbaggers !!!!

We can't expect the Iraqis to sit quietly as the U.S. Corporations pump the very life from their country.
This is robbery and we can expect them to treat those companies as criminal enterprises.
(the only way they can)

No one has any intention of ever giving one penny of the oil profits to the "Iraqi people".

Has someone else's country become a downhome fishin' hole for U.S. contractors?
If they're lookin' to catch a big one I'll bet they will!

23. BINGO! I know someone over there working for KBR (Halliburton)..
The job market isn't what it used to be. He's got a desk job and pretty good pay.

I don't understand how anyone can do it..ethically I'm totally 100% opposed..but it is interesting to hear a bit of the inside scoop.

22. I think it's sad, too. It's tragic when life is lost.
However.....I think these people knew what they were getting themselves into. They most assuredly knew that Iraq is one of the most dangerous places on earth for Americans right now.

I heard that salaries are extremely generous; $200,000 per year, plus incentives, bonuses, living expenses.

I just hope they had a good term life insurance policy.
