The Joke Is on Liberals, Says Dennis Miller, Host of His Own Show Again
Dennis Miller, the liberal-turned-conservative comedian and defender of President Bush and the war in Iraq, is less than two weeks away from being the host of a new talk show on CNBC. For him it can't come soon enough.

"People say I've slid to the right," Mr. Miller said in his office at the NBC Studios in Burbank, speaking in his rat-a-tat-tat style. "Well, can you blame me? One of the biggest malfeasances of the left right now is the mislabeling of Hitler. Quit saying this guy is Hitler," he said, referring to Mr. Bush. "Hitler is Hitler. That's the quintessential evil in the history of the universe, and we're throwing it around on MoveOn.org to win a contest. That's grotesque to me."
<snip>
His new hourlong show, "Dennis Miller," at 9 p.m. weeknights (with a repeat of one show on Sunday), will have its premiere on Jan. 26. It will include his usual venting on current issues, as well as interviews with political figures, journalists and others, and a nightly "right-left" debate among figures at different points on the political spectrum.

16. I used to be a fan, too.
I don't know about Dean being "in free fall", but I think I saw Miller on the side of the highway with a sign claiming he'd wash any car for $4.95. First the football gig, now this? Does he owe bad people Oxycontin money? Is "male menopause" an epidemic? Of all times to try to be the hip, "contrarian" Republican, this year? Sticking up for this President and administration? He's really coming off like a glib psychopath, and not "in a good way". It's sad for everybody. Please get some sleep, Dennis, and think about what you're doing.

6. grrrrr!
and look at THIS from the article:

Mr. Miller's metamorphosis from iconoclastic liberal to free-wheeling conservative — which he partly attributes to the Sept. 11 attacks — has not only made this 50-year-old comedian an esteemed figure on the Fox network. It has also made California Republicans, who have triumphed with a movie star in the governor's mansion, look to Mr. Miller as a possible opponent to Senator Barbara Boxer, the liberal Democrat who is up for re-election this year.

:wtf:

so the repukes have no candidates who can offer anything except "celebrity"--?? no statesmen or experienced government executives? what a bunch of LOSERS!
and btw repuke slimeballs, I hardly consider the Iran-Contra liar/traitor Reagan to be a "triumph"

because Bush was being equated with Hitler?....Give me a break.....He's nothing but a pathetic opportunist who jumps to whichever side he thinks is beneficial to him.....At this point in time, with a career that was in the dumper, he decided it would be beneficial to take on the mantle of the right wing.....He's not funny but he IS A JOKE.
P,S....I never found him funny...even on Saturday Night Live....there was always a bitterness lurking just below the surface of his "humour" which turned me off....

15. So Hitler wasn't right wing?
So his fascists weren't used by US anntered right wing politics after the war? What exactly was his politics and ideology anyway- minus the crazy details of his time and place?

Their the ones putting their foot into it this time. It isn't who is a monster, but exactly what constitutes right wing behavior and why can't they ever change?

Participating in the Big Lie isn't helpful to his argument by the way and exactly how many people have to be murdered for nothing to qualify as a monstrosity? I thought one was enough.

Hitler's dead We have moved on to the reincarnation of the Right Wing Spiritus Mundi in Bush.

41. No. Hitler was clearly a LIBERAL!!!
That's why enlightened folks like Dennis Miller and Tom Delay - want to make sure that their politics are the complete polar opposite to Hitler - which of course would make them right wing - just like Jesus - who as far a right-wing neo-conservative as one could possibly be! Throughout his life on earth, Jesus preached the wisdom of pre-emptive first strike physical attacks on all possible enemies, as well as helping the rich by stealing from the undeserving poor!

22. Dennis Miller on Dennis Miller
http://www.blacktable.com/chandler030529.htm

<snip>

DENNIS MILLER (2003): It's all under control, younger me. I've reinvented myself. Fifteen years from now, you'll be very proud of yourself.

DENNIS MILLER (1988): I have to tell you, and I say this with the greatest warmth and affection: fuck you. (Flips through pages in folder). The Factor with Bill O'Reilly. Hardball with Chris Matthews. Scarborough Country … I'm not even sure what the fuck that is, but suddenly I feel like a pack of Cools.

<snip>
DENNIS MILLER (1988): Firing Line … you're on cable more than hotel porn. And it says here that you've been spewing conservative rhetoric at a rate that would make Joe McCarthy choke on his noon hoagie. It says here that, on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, you said: "George Bush has allowed us to respect the presidency again." Is this my future? Is this the promise of all those hard years at a low-level state university? (Looks under bed) And am I still wearing white socks with loafers?!

47. Great link.
DENNIS MILLER (1988): That's all very interesting -- which is to say I wasn't listening at all -- but there's a larger issue here, kemosabe: namely, my career. What in the name of Ray Jay Johnson have you been doing for the past 15 years? I'm getting sympathy cards from the cast of Diff'rent Strokes.

...

DENNIS MILLER (1988): We were all scared when those planes swan-dived into the towers, OK? But what separates real Americans from the faux variety is that real Americans don't turn in their spines to the hatcheck lady in times of stress. People in this country today hear the word terrorist and immediately snap into action -- which means locking themselves in the loo, defecating on the Constitution and using the Bill of Rights to wipe their ass. We're made of better stuff than that, and all the shrieking Rush Limbaughs in the world are not worth one brave man who will stand up and say, "hey, the emperor is starkers, and besides that, he wants all of Yemen's oil." I wasn't around, but I'm pretty sure the guys at Valley Forge weren't eating sautéed rat three times a day so that a future president could attempt a three-point landing on an aircraft carrier moored three miles off the coast of Catalina Island. We have to respond to terrorism, but the problem is that we're running around like the lynch mob in The Ox-Bow Incident, and when Hank Fonda stands up and says we got the wrong guy, Jane Darwell whacks him on the head with a gun butt and the next thing you know you wake up behind barbed wire at Guantanamo. All I'm saying is that it's time to scrap the Merle Haggard diplomacy, OK? Oh, and the reason we haven't found any weapons of mass destruction is that they're all in a warehouse in Topeka waiting for the next right-wing militia asshat to work his hatred of the federal government to a sufficient boiling point due to the fact that the local TV station has once again cancelled Dukes of Hazzard. While we're running around the world like Barney Fife at a jaywalkers convention, it's good to know that our schools are shit, our economy is floundering, and they'll have universal health care in Kabul before we have it here. The only good thing to come out of this is that Ari Fleischer took the honorable way out before Bush made him put on the jaunty Iraqi Minister of Information beret and tell us the moon is made of Sonoma Dry Jack. Ah fuck it, where's my propeller beanie?

27. Dammit! Bush is NOT Hitler!
Hitler was a miserable failure for most of his life. He clawed his way to power by lying to the people and appealing to their basest instincts. He relied upon the support of uberwealthy military contractors and monied corporations. He blatantly used Biblical references to advance a hellish agenda. He threw so-called 'enemies of the state' into secret camps without charge or advice of counsel. And he illegally invaded other nations with an eye to plundering their resources.

And Bush has........um....well.....nevermind!

49. I know everyone here says Miller is stupid
to the point that it seems axiomatic, but after reading that article I have to say that he is *not* an intelligent man. He was completely unable to articulate why he sides with neoconservatives--his belief system, if you could call it that, seemed more libertarian than anything. I think he's just another mediocre guy who hates feminists, paying taxes, and thinking. It probably doesn't hurt that there really aren't too many court jesters available for the right.

51. Yes we should stop comapring Bush to Hitler
Dennis Miller is right.

It is incorrect to compare the * administration to Hitler.

More accurate comparisons would be Spain's Franco or Chile's Pinochet.

Not all fascism carries a swastika. Some of it was disguised as Christian Warriors or the triumph of Chicago School economics (via death squads).

Fascism doesn't always look the same. It is still fascism nevertheless, and it is always evil.

53. Comparrisons to Hiltler
...are most often made by the media and the Pentagon powers that be when justifying yet ANOTHER invasion of yet ANOTHER third world country. Think Noriaga, the Sandanistas, Milosovik (sp?) and Saddam. It's very convinent to trot out the Hitler analogies any time we want to start dropping bombs, isn't it?

Slaying the mythical liberal is becoming a tale of lore. Dennis Miller must have been spending too much time at DU again

It's time for another Bush/Nazis thread

Edited for syntax but also for fun :-)

55. Another "compassionate conservative" speaks:
Edited on Thu Jan-15-04 02:30 PM by SOS
"Lenny (Bruce) was a heroin addict, and I could care less about heroin addicts," Mr. Miller said. "Once I hear a guy is a heroin addict, and they tell me he's a genius, I think, really? I'm not trying to be judgmental. But anybody whose last vision is of a tile pattern on a bathroom floor, I don't know what kind of genius they are."

Is that supposed to be funny? Thomas De Quincey, Dr, W.S. Halsted, the father of American surgery, Marcus Aurelius, William Wilberforce and Samuel Taylor Coleridge were all morphine/opium addicts and they were alot smarter than this washed-up alcoholic jackass.

69. Gina!
How the hell are you? :hi:

As far as I'm concerned, his 15 minutes were over before they even began. Remember his SNL hair obsession when he was doing weekend update? I've always despised him, even when he pretended to be liberal. Comedy doesn't work when it's too mean-spirited and nasty. Couple that with a massive superiority complex and you've got Dennis Miller in a nutshell.

This show will last no longer than his syndicated piece of shit that was on a decade ago... Are you gonna "copter" out on the last show again*?

*when the 1991 show was canceled, he was whisked out of the set on the ladder of an imaginary helicopter, a la Saigon...

70. & his "acting " career 's gone ~t h u d...
Needs to do more ass kissing around with rabid RWers like Cameron, Lowe, Curtis Schfarzenasty. Most of them make the schlock-busters.

Always thought he was the epitome of a character he played--next door neighbor of a babe being stalked by a psycho. He sychophants around her as a sniveling protector-sympatico. The psycho-killer turns out to be the Dennis Miller character. He so fits that it gave away the end twist..no schock there.

He's got an e-mail address now cnbc.com--good.

Been sure of his political poistion since 9-11!!??..since the disastrous incompetence (at most generous outlook) of being incapable of putting stacks of pertinent intel..major warnings of previous administration together with most current "buzz" reports of imminent terror plots about to drop. Malfeasance of not getting out even basic warnings fades beside comparisons to Hitler (rather a global& simultaneous phenomenon though--why? Miller?). Shouldof been couldof been prevented is what truly incisive observers conclude.

71. Dennis won't be canceled early
even if the show has an audience in the dozens, cnbc will stick by it for a long time and give it a Z"chance to find an audience" like GE is still tryin g to do with Scarborough.

Compare this to the one liberal show ever, Donahue, that was cancelled in 6 months. The network began leaking stuff to Drudge almost immediately after Phil went on the air. Not to mention the way they micromanged his guests and forced hime to have over 50% rightwing lineups on the last few months of the show. Joe "dead intern" scarborough gets to have dornan and 4 rightwingers uninterrupted at length whenever he pleases.

I'm sure dennis will have coulter and company on night after night

"Liberal media, my ass!"

WHat is with that guy? I would suggest some type of suppository to smooth things out for him... I never found him funny. He's a freakin' beer pushing, sports calling, quasi-comedian, with opinions (bad ones). He is so 1980's.
