GOP Operative Digs Into Democrats' Backgrounds

As Gov. John G. Rowland was warning legislators last week that the investigations into his conduct could lead to increased scrutiny of their actions, a top Republican operative was doing a little scrutinizing of his own.

David Boomer, a longtime Rowland aide who was hired by the state Republican Party to help the governor fight for his job, researched several years of financial disclosure documents filed by three high-ranking Democrats at the forefront of the legislature's move to investigate and possibly impeach Rowland.

Wednesday, Rowland's office and the GOP state chairman disavowed Boomer's action. Boomer said he dug up the files on his own time and has no intention of using them.

But two of the Democrats targeted by Boomer said they doubt he acted alone.

Of course he wasn't acting alone.

You watch. The number of Democratic scandals is about to go through the roof thank to Imperial Corruption, which naturally will be invesigated in due course by representatives of the Emperor.

2. Bring it on, says I

If Rowland's goons can unearth some dirty dealings by state legislators, it'll be all the easier to clean out some corruption with a wave of impeachments and resignations. And, since Rowland's going to levy his attack at Dems, perhaps the Dems can pick up the balance by doing some investigation of the GOP legislators.

This could turn into a healthy sort of purge.

3. Add this to the impeachment inquiry

During the Clinton impeachment Tom DeLay said that criticizing Clinton's acusers amounted to "intimidation" of a legislative investigation, as was also grounds for impeachment. Very well, let's use that standard and add these charges to the impeachment inquiry.

Does anyone doubt that Patriot Act and its spawn are being and will be employed to consolidate power and destroy political enemies?
