8. McCain's candidacy reminds me of Bob Dole's in 1996.
Old fart with a military record.

Same results?

The Great White Father, Reagan reborn, rides again.

Too bad Bush wants Romney (and he's the only one)

I too find McCain the greatest threat, for he is Reagan's true heir, and probably has the Alzheimers, too.

6. Praise The Creator
All of the other 'thugs are insane, Romney's the worst. McCain is easily beatable by Obama, probably beatable by Clinton (unless her husband campaigns for her, of course).

13. The message of the old, tired, worn out
geezer who supports the Iraq war, versus the young candidate of hope who opposes the war, is the best possible scenario. John McCain has fully dispirited the Republicans, except for the hardcore that believes that war is the answer to everything.

The only one who can convice the GOP to rally around McCain is Hillary. Their hate and loathing of her is legendary, and they have the potential to make it contageous. They cannot demonize Obama in the same way, as long as he stays on message.

19. florida's vote
As a native Floridian I am pissed at the DNC. In typical dem fashion they fell right into a "Rove"ian tactic. Our legislature is Republican our Governor is Republican. The election was moved to suit the Republican's wishes. This was not a democratic move, yet we are being punished and disenfranchised. Mccain is laughing his ass off with his 57 delegates and we look like the weak-dicks that the Repubs paint us to be. I will vote yellow dog but not one of my dollars will go to those bastards on the DNC. Its win win for repubs all because DNC played hardball with Florida. Thank you DNC for once again making Sure Florida is the laughingstock we are known to be. Pray it doesn't come down to Florida's electoral vote come November. Pray. and Pray no viable independent makes themselves available to the disenfranchised Floridians. It is not something I nor any other Dis-sed Dem. will soon forget. Bank on it!

7. Romney and Giuliani ....oh well
I am no fan of McCain, but I was amazed how rabid some of the conservatives are toward him..he is a liberal...he wants to stay in Iraq 100 years. Some liberal..lol
His immigration policy has some conservatives going nuts that he won..again, too liberal..amazing.
He was actually against Bush tax cuts, now has flipped I hear...thats the sacrilege I guess..thou shall not take money from the rich!

Interesting he won despite the nasty campaign stuff which included some wacko guy in NY..VietNam Vets against McCain..same guy behind the Kerry smear stuff I believe in 2004.

10. Great, just what we need:
McCain: a guy growing a second head, who gives blow jobs to bush, and loves war. A perfect rethuglican candidate. Jeeez, another eight years with this guy and I just might kill myself.

12. I simply DO NOT GET Republicans
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 10:16 PM by Gopens
They bitch and bitch and bitch about what a "liberal" McCain is, what a "maverick" McCain is, and then they turn around and vote for him in primary after primary, even in closed primaries that shouldn't be able to be hijacked by whatever liberal or independent is dumb enough to fall for McCain's schtick.
Yes, we all know McCain really is a pretty conservative guy, he's just not as robotic as all the rest of them. Yet, if he's so despised by the right, why are they going to make him their nominee, while guys who they should fall over each other to vote for, like Huckabee, Hunter and the late, lamented Brownback, go nowhere.
In Huckabee's case, I'm assuming that the evangelical right is showing its true colors by really caring far more about taxes than any of their pet social causes, but what about the rest of the knuckle-draggers?
In short, I can't believe the GOP is going to crown McCain, someone who, as we've been told time and time again, is the devil in Republican's clothing.

14. I think the internet opinion of McCain
doean't represent the party as a whole, but does represent the most informed portion of it.

How many voters who don't use the internet for political information know any of the following - McCain (R, Keating Five), CFR, gang of 14, amnesty bill sponsor ( I believe the amnesty position of BUsh and the GOP hurt them more in 2006 elections than any other single topic)?

I bet you almost no one knows he was a keating5 participant, and on average a person might know about one of the other 3 topics.

20. He's winning because they've taken a good, hard look
at their field and determined who has the best chance in the fall. To repukes winning, by whatever means and with whatever candidate, is everything.

15. McCain = The Zel Miller of the GOP
McCain and the Republican base have never liked each other.
His nomination is essentially the same thing as the Democrats nominating Zel Miller.

GOP R.I.P.

Unless the Dems really screw up there is no way they can lose in November. This is going to get ugly.

McCain Beats Romney to Win Fla. Primary
2008-01-29 21:45:24
By DAVID ESPO and LIZ SIDOTI Associated Press Writers

MIAMI (AP) — Sen. John McCain won a breakthrough triumph in the Florida primary Tuesday night, gaining the upper hand in the battle for the Republican presidential nomination ahead of next week's contests across 21 states. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani appeared headed for the campaign exits.

"It shows one thing. I'm the conservative leader who can unite the party," McCain said in a brief interview with The Associated Press.

"It's a very significant boost, but I think we've got a tough week ahead and a lot of states to come."
