Memories of Columbia crew live on
Source: USA Today

CAPE CANAVERAL — Five years after the loss of shuttle Columbia and seven astronauts, the widow of mission commander Rick Husband is striving to turn tragedy into triumph.

...

Life is relatively good, but returning to Kennedy Space Center today — the fifth anniversary of the February 2003 accident — is going to be hard.

...

"You know, all of us (the Columbia families) have sought to not let this define the rest of our lives but maybe refine who we are and absolutely honor our family member," said Husband-Thompson, who will be the keynote speaker at a memorial ceremony today at the Astronaut Memorial "Space Mirror" at the space center's visitor complex.

...

An ordinary mom thrust into extraordinary circumstances, she'll detail her journey over the past five years.

1. RIP crew
My husband and I think we saw something happening with the shuttle the night before. We were looking at the stars (in S. California) and saw the shuttle orbiting with streaks of light coming from it. At least we thought that's what we saw. We were sorry we didn't call someone.....

3. That is common -- it's debris and/or gas
I've seen it in connection with satellites at least twice; I was an astronomy buff when I was a kid, and that was in the 1960s.

Water vapor being vented is quite bright when the sun hits it.

2. Columbia Crew Remembered 5 Years Later

Friday marked five years since space shuttle Columbia broke up in the skies over Texas on its way back to Earth from the International Space Station.

...

NASA remembered the crew Friday in a special ceremony at Kennedy Space Center.

In a speech at the ceremony, Evelyn Thompson said she was amazed it has been five years since she lost her husband, Columbia commander Rick Husband.

"This is the first time that we've been back to Florida on the anniversary of the Columbia tragedy," Thompson said. "This morning -- sunrise today -- and it was just as beautiful as I remember five years ago. This morning, I couldn't stop thinking about Rick."

"All of our families went through so much that day. We so miss them, and we will never forget them," Thompson said.

6. I still have doubts about the official story - USA gov't is not big on TRUTH.
.
.
.

In the wee back corner of my suspicious brain is a nagging voice that says this was a "test".

They KNEW that a piece (NOW known as critical) was knocked off the shuttle.

and there is still the possibility that one or more of the casualties had something to say that the neocons didn't want said.

YES!

You are darned right I don't trust what the American Government says to be truth.
