After precincts in Alameda County ran out of ballots today, a judge ordered polling places with waiting voters to stay open until 10 p.m., the Alameda County Registrar of Voters said.

An Alameda County Superior Court judge made the decision after several cities in the county - including Berkeley - had no real ballots for voters to use. Some voters used ballots that were paper copies of real ballots.

"We've ordered all 810 polling places in Alameda County to stay open if anybody is waiting to vote - to stay open as late as 10 p.m. due to the ballot shortages that plagued some of our polling places," said Guy Ashley, spokesman for the Alameda County Registrar of Voters.

The judge consulted with a state administrative office, which oversees the court, and "advised us that that was the best course of action," Ashley said.

1. Shouldn't they remain open until all voters in line voted anyhow? Without a court order?
Are there states that close the polls when voters are still in line?

"Some who voted Democratic were given ballots whose primary language was in Vietnamese or Tagalong but that also listed the candidates in English."

This country gets dumber by the day...

8. major metropolitan areas still to be counted, we have millions of voters here not
hundreds of thousands, expect the Hillary lead to narrow down significantly from what was projected two weeks ago for her. Delegates for her will not be the big number she was projected to take. Not over yet. Look to next group of states before this is moving in any clear direction.

10. I worked the polls in Placer today.
The turnout was hiuge and unprecedented. Slightly more Dem turnout in a notoriously 2-1 Rethug precinct. Obama beat Clinton in my precinct and I turned in my ballots after 9:00pm.

12. How many showed up..and then had to leave..and cannot get back..
This always pisses me off.. They have MONTHS..YEARS..to plan for these damned elections, and EVERY F'n time, it's like the first time anyone every tried to do one.

Hire people, have ballots printed.. MORE than you expect (one for every registered voter)

Set up tables..

Have plenty of people there to count the damned votes..

It's NOT ROCKET SCIENCE..
