Explosion at gas pumping station (Tenn)

A fire has erupted at a natural gas pumping station northeast of Nashville, Tennessee, and Highway Patrol authorities report an undetermined number of deaths.

Officials do not know what started the fire at the Columbia Gulf Natural Gas pumping station near Green Grove, about 40 miles from Nashville.

Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Browning says the station could have been damaged by a line of severe storms that moved through Tennessee. The weather system also spawned deadly tornadoes.

Tennessee Emergency Management spokesman Donnie Smith says flames shot "400, 500 feet in the air."
