Harris Won't Run for Senate
Edited on Fri Jan-16-04 07:04 PM by ih8thegop
Rep. Katherine Harris announced on Friday that she would not run for the U.S. Senate in Florida this year, but left no doubt that she expects to run in the future.

Speculation had been that Harris would run to replace Democratic Sen. Bob Graham, who is retiring.

<snip>

Harris stopped short of endorsing the White House favorite for the job, former HUD Secretary Mel Martinez, but said, "I will do everything to ensure a Republican is in the United States Senate" from Florida."

2. Too bad
She has such high negative numbers among Democrats in Florida that it seems she would have been a weak candidate.

8. Damn, I was hoping she would run
Would have split the pubbies in Florida and helped to get a lot of angry Democrats to the polls in November if she were the nominee.
Not that Dems in Florida should need any more reasons to get out and vote against Bush this year.
