House GOP Warns White House on Budget Plan
WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Republicans warned a White House official Friday that Congress may fail to adopt President Bush's budget priorities this election year because of GOP divisions over spending levels.

One of the leaders, House Budget Committee Chairman Jim Nussle, R-Iowa, said he told White House budget chief Joshua Bolten that he is concerned the president's forthcoming budget will propose spending that is too high. That is a widespread concern among conservatives.

Nussle said Bush's proposal to send manned missions to the moon and Mars was an example of a program that, ``if it's so important,'' should be paid for with cuts in other areas.

``Let's cut out the lower priority items,'' Nussle said in an interview. ``This should be a budget with no new spending, with spending as low as possible. I'd even go to actual cuts or a freeze.''

1. They'll all fall in line.............
they always do. Bush is pissing off his base, they'll make a lot of noise, but in the end they'll acquiesce. They're top of the world right now, they're not going to jeopardize that by squabbling over the countries future. We'll let future generations worry about that. Reagan proved that deficits don't matter, correct?

2. But I thought Reagan proved that defecits dont matter!!!!!

What? Now all of a sudden they matter?

Well which is it you fucking idiots? What's the limit?

Whomever the democratic nominee is needs to make this a core issue, and demand that Bush give detailed plans as to how he is going to return this country into the black.

3. "Actual cuts"
``Let's cut out the lower priority items,'' Nussle said in an interview. ``This should be a budget with no new spending, with spending as low as possible. I'd even go to actual cuts or a freeze.''

Okay, what will they cut?

Social Security
Medicare
Federal Unemployment benefits
Federal Welfare programs (such as they are)
all regulatory agencies -- so we can have mountaintop mining, dirty-coal burning power plants, downer cow beef, gross chemicals in our water. . . . . . . .

Oh, yeah, and while we're at it, let's just do away with all those expensive government things like elections, and congress. . . .

4. But they voted for the spending ????
And now they want to blame their leader solely?? Must be an election year? Spending too high? Uh-huh? They are praying that the people don't throw them out on their keisters...but by pretending to be for budget restraints? And if a Democrat takes the WH, they will really be for spending restraints, won't they? No healthcare plan....we can't afford it.
