Waxman won’t request earmarks this year
Source: The Hill

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) joined several House Republicans Tuesday by promising not to request any earmarks in appropriations bills this year.

“We have a problem in Congress,” said Waxman in a statement on his website. “Congressional spending through earmarks is out of control.”

GOP leadership in the House has continually pushed for more reforms in the earmarking process this year. Several members of the party have promised to refrain from asking for the pet projects typically placed in spending bills.

In his statement, Waxman noted that, when he was first elected to Congress in the 1970s, there were few if any earmarks signed off by Capitol Hill. But by fiscal year 2005, there were more than of 15,800 projects totaling $27 billion in the 13 appropriations bills that year, according to the Congressional Research Service.

2. PRIORITIES ASKEW
It is not Earmarks.
It is not Earmarks

It is Military Spending.
It is Medicare.

Earmarks are 1% of Budget

1% Get it 1%.

I have a cost reduction program called
TOP DOWN and I have been through many many cases of executives working butts off on the 1%.

Case---VP in one of nations top firms.
All ga ga over MRO's. Wanted cost controls.
When I showed him those items were 2.9% of total expenditure he gasped.

When I showed him the work involved he was quiet.

2.9% on 4,000 stock keeping units.

Waste of time.

Same here. Earmarks earmarks earmarks.

Pentagon wastes many times the $$$.

Go for big $$$$$.

I know some perfectionist will say each $ counts.

Not if it costs $1.10 to save it.

Stop the junk. Go top down.
